hawaiiman
A significant change of immigration policy seems to have occurred in 2006, I wonder, with PT taking over, if they will be more friendly to farungs, and ease visa policy?
puchooay
I do believe that it was the same "boss" in charge when the money required in the banks was raised. I would answer "No" to your question.
PoorSucker
Last time Thaksin was in power he took away the 400.000 baht in bank option for married couples. Last government reinstated it.
Jingthing
The changes you speak of happened BEFORE the coup went into effect in 2006. If this is how you measure the risk, you would concluded PTP will be WORSE for expats.

TRT = Name of Thaksins first party for newbies . Edited July 14, 2011 by PoorSucker
Richard4849
Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, it was Thaksin who raised the PR fee from 50,000 baht to 200,000 baht. But -- his government chugged along issuing PR's.
janverbeem
Under Thakin it was decided that all farang bars had to close at midnight, the argument was that real tourists are sleping already at that time as they have to wake up early for their next trip. Not just "farang bars"...whatever the heck that is. ALL bars. It was a stupid idea that didn't last long, anyway.

And really how could it be any easier to stay here, the immigration policies are about as easy as any in the world. O forgot you have to meet the requirements. Easing visa policy seems to be a code word for those who donot meet requirements.
