Hi,

I'm an Australian living near Sydney, Australia. My father passed away in 2005 in Surin Hospital in Thailand. I have a copy of his autopsy report, but I need a copy of his death certificate, so I can apply to find my adopted out sister. I don't have the first clue how to get this from Surin Hospital and I couldn't find them online. Can anyone help me please?

Death certificates would be issued by the district office (amphur). But the hospital would also have documents, if he died there.

Yes he died in a hospital, but I can't find how to contact this hospital online anywhere. I'm partially deaf, so find it very hard on the telephone. I just want to try and locate an email address for the Hospital so I can get the ball rolling on getting a copy of his death certificate.

Ok, I don't know Thailand at all, but Dad used to talk about Phuket a lot and that's where he met his widow, so I thought it must've been near there. Apologies for posting in the wrong forum.

Thanks Mario. I'll see if the Australian Embassy will help me further. All they've said so far is to ask the hospital or coroners office for it. Not much help really :(

They should be able to give the name and address of the hospital if you are not sure. The police would have contacted the embassy upon your fahters dead to inform them, as is standerd practise.

No problem, just checking if you were posting in the correct area forum to obtain the best chance of a local answer. Anyhow Mario has posted the hospital web site. That's your best point of contact.

Don't be confused OP, there is a Surin Beach in Phuket but as stated there is not a hospital in Surin beach directly, some not too far away but not in Surin.. There is a Surin province as stated but it's in the complete opposite direction many hundreds of k's away north and east..

In any case condolences to you and hope you can find and reunite with your sister...

Thank you for trying to help me with my queries. The Australian Embassy has said they will help me to contact the hospital, so that's great. I didn't think it was going to be quite so difficult! I can't figure out why I was given an autopsy report but not a death certificate. Is that usual there?

OP confirms hospital in Surin Province so moving this topic to Central Forum in the hope that a Surin local can help the OP.

Surin is in Isaan so maybe better off in that forum.

Yes, if it is Surin Province, then definitely it should be in the Isarn Forum.Does the O.P. have ANY details about his Father, address, phone , G/F.s name or address, or phone. On the Autopsy report ,any address , contact details for the hospital? Was he on a pension? If so can Centrelink provide any contact details?Any Bank accounts?Thai or Australian. If so they would have contact details. There are 2 major hospitals in Amphur Muang ( Surin City) Surin Province , one Private ,one Govt.

And now moved to Isaan forum.

Did you try the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. All deaths of foreigners should be reported to the deceased persons embassy. it would be the place to start.
