Visa And Wp

Featured Replies

Can a UK passport holder on a retirement visa in Thailand change that visa in-country after picking up some work in Thailand? Or does he need to pop down the Singapore or KL and get a new Non-B? Can he work on a retirement visa?

Are Singapore and KL only issuing single-entry Non-B visas or is the only real option for a multi some local Honorary Consul in the applicants homeland like Houston, TX or Hull, UK?

Thanks,

NL

What are you calling a retirement visa? O, O-A, One year extension from Immigration?

A work permit would not normally be issued to someone on a one year retirement extension of stay so yes a new visa entry would likely be required - but if work paperwork allowed a one year extension of stay might be possible on that basis after work permit issued. Most local Consulates would not issue more than a single entry but once a work permit with 8 months or more remaining is available they may.

Thanks lopburi, I asked the guy and it's an 'O' multi and not on extension. He has another UK passport so I reckon I will send him to KL with the requisite paperwork to secure a Non-B single in the other passport, then he re-enters Thailand on that one.
