Since you carry a UK passport I'd try the British Embassy or Consulate first. If you are only making an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry affidavit, it should not matter. If the embassy or consulate needs to see a certified copy of the divorce papers, then you have a problem. The Affirmation of Freedom to Marry needs to be translated into Thai and certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs before proceeding to your local District Office (Amphur) to legally register the marriage.

Thanks , That's what where I'll start.Let's see what runaround I might or might not get.I somehow think it will not be so straightforward but I can allways hope

You will need to show original divorce papers.

You take these with the completed Affirmation of Freedom to Marry (Download from UK Embassy website)

Then onto the MFA to have the Affirmation translated to Thai.

and then you're set to go

Does the MFA translate it ? I think they only Legalize it after you have it translated ?

Yes , sorry my post is a little confusing....you can get it translated at the MFA building (many translator services around) then get it legalized at the MFA then its all systems go sorry for the confusion.

Heres the Affirmation of Freedom to Marry example, save and change the details to yours, dont sign or date until u r in front of the consulate

between 8 and 11.(I can't find the download on the website)I shall do so tomorrow but I fear that they will want a copy of my divorce papers (I have the original)translated from Spanish to English

before the give me the affirmation. Then I will have to transalate the affirmation from English to Thai Let's see.Thank you very much for all your answers and help.

I think you have it the wrong way round..

You need to goto the British Embassy first in Wireless Road to do the Affirmation afterwards to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chaen Wattana Road.

The Embassy website gives you step by step procedure to follow, follow the details in my last post.
