I just got back from P.P. with a double entry tourist visa.

I'm using the first entry now and wanted to go back to my home country after the 60 days stay and get another new multiple entry tourist visa (the consulate in my home country is very close to my house compared to P.P.).

Is the following sequence of events possible and probable?

- have a unused entry on a tourist visa

- leave the country

- apply for a new multiple entry TV at a Thai consulate

- be granted a multiple TV

- return to Thailand and use the valid unused entry on my old 1st TV

- still have use of the new 2nd multiple entry TV?

Sounded like a long shot in my head, but thought I'd ask from those with similar past experiences before booking my flight and making travel plans.

Thanks in advance!

Your old visa will be cancelled when you get a new one.

You do know you can get a 30 day extension for 1,900 baht on any tourist visa entry?

Yes I know of the extension, but was hoping to stock pile a few entries together to save the hassle later. Thanks for your reply.

The way I understand it is that a passport may only contain one valid visa. It maybe that the rules say a person may only have one valid visa at a time because sometime ago I was refused a visa in my second passport. The issing officer recognised me and knew I had a valid visa in my first passport.

So then if I had a 2nd passport and put the 2nd valid visa in there, would the old visa still remain valid?

You said

This is unlikely to work unless you fly into Bangkok Airport to use the 2nd visa because other entry points will be looking for the sequence of depart/arrival stamps without breaks.

It has to be said that the risks are high. I have been passport shuffling for many years and while it is perfectly legal and correct, they do not like it and will find some reason to cancel any overlapping visas in same or different passports from same or different countries. Nowadays I don't try to have anything more than my current visa in one passport - it's not worth the risk and potential pain.

My advise is - don't push your luck. ;)

With a multi entry tourist visa, there is a 30 days free extension at the completion of the first 60 and again after the second 60 is completed unless they changed the rules in the last couple of months.

Dangerous territory, even if you have dual nationality and hence 2 passports.

WRONG!

An extension costs always 1,900 baht.
