Ozziman04 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Well the Thai Government try to ban them and the police tried to close them down But the pirate DVD industry still survives But it seems they still can not beat the commercial industry if they really want to put them out of business Here in Australia Kmart is selling genuine dvd's for 175 baht on the current exchange rate, with a money back gaurantee.. 4 Major players in The US are ready to release self destuctive dvd all the latest titles for just over 100 baht, Like a buy it but you rent it system. So it seems the best way to beat them is undercut them, and I can say with out a joke they can produce then cheaper than thai pirates MMMMhh just a thought
Guest IT Manager Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Can you get me a copy of Matrix Reloaded...
Pink Mist Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 IT copy any DVD you want, just hire movie and copy it easy. copy to HD with smart ripper convert files from using DVD2AVI Re-encode with TMPGEnc burn with inbuilt burn program or Nero whatever. shows how easy it is, all these programs are freeware so how can you stop it.
Guest IT Manager Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 I actually want to begin collecting proper dvd's, not pirate ones. We watched it last night..awesome film.
Pink Mist Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 My point was how easy it is to do with freeware IT. Hav'nt seen them at that price yet ozman, are we saying $6? That's the same price as a new release overnight hire in our local video store. I was looking thru Kmart, Big W, and Target b4 xmas and no bargains, most new movies about $30.
Ozziman04 Posted January 3, 2004 Author Posted January 3, 2004 My comments wher how easy it would be if they wanted to stop the commercial dvd pirates in places like Panthrip Plaza who are asking 150 - 250 baht per dvd, You can still pick them up at 120 if you know who to talk to, this was never meant to stop pirating at a private level The $6 was just an example and started the first dy of Trading in all KMart stores in Australia
the gentleman Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 I actually want to begin collecting proper dvd's, not pirate ones. We watched it last night..awesome film. I am also a major movie buff, I have a massive tv, surround sound, woofers, dolby etc and now over 1000 dvd and vcd movies - All mine are sound and picture perfect. I would guess 80% are pirate! I actually would buy original dvds, but they take such a long time to get to dvd - so i will keep buying perfect pirates..
Pink Mist Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Gentleman I assume you can get them on VCD first, if interested you can convert to dvd if you have a burner.
