you have GBP account there

are you sure ?

can you withdraw all your GBP when ever you want ( in the sameday withdraw ALL)

thanks

Changed topic title from "open account" to "open bank account" as that is what the OP seems to ask about.

The banks' websites seem to say the opposite.

Not sure its a good idea to hold foreign currency... seems to be losing value every year :ermm: i'm banking my GBP wages straight to THB now ..

Yes, you can open foreign currency accounts in Thai banks, but they pay very little interest, and there are normally opening and closing charges, typically close to 1% each time, so what is the point ??

This is absolute nonsense. You don't know what you are writing about.

I have had a USD account with Bangkok Bank for over 15 years. Never an issue ... You have to go to the main branch on naklua, but I have not been there in years, no need ... it all works just fine ...

These days I hear they require a bit more than a tourist visa to open one ....

Cheers,

rudi

PS: I am in Pattaya now, when I was living in BKK, I went to the Sukhumvit Soi 8 branch, they did everything for me, USD withdrawals, transfer to Thai Bank account, etc. Now with Siam Comercial, I have a Thai Bank account, but can withdraw USD or EURO at the airport ATMs.
