Renewing Visa From Cambodia

Featured Replies

We will be returning from UK to Thailand on 23rd November, staying until 16th April 2012 in Khao Lak on a Non-Immigrant Type O Single or Multi-trip Visa. During this time we will be going over to Cambodia flying Phuket to Kuala Lumpur on 17th February and onward to Siem Reap on 18th until 22nd February then back to Phuket. How can we use this trip to renew our visa to take us through to our return to UK? Or will we have to do a Visa Run as we did last year to Ranong/Myanmar?

If you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa you will not have to do anything.

If you have a single entry you will need to apply for another Visa in Cambodia.

You do not say on what grounds you will be applying in UK but the rules have changed recently and Non Imm O Visas are not so easy to get any more.

Our maximum length of stay is 90 days from 23rd November which is 21st February so we are not overstaying. Under normal circumstances when we return into Thailand we will receive a 30 day Visa Waiver because of our passport. But that won't take us until the end of our stay in Thailand and that is not a visa extension so we really need an extension and I am asking if there is a way to do this during this trip. If we can't then it appears to me we will have to do a Visa Run to Ranong again.

According to the Visa Application pack on the website of the Royal Thai Consulate in Hull where we obtain our Visa and which was updated on 8th April 2011 the following Type O ctegories apply to us

Visiting Thailand as Pensioner

Evidence required: Copy of bank statement showing receipt of pension.

or

Visiting Thailand as retired person aged 50 years and over

Evidence required: Copy of bank statement showing income of minimum £900.00 per mon

When you return to Thailand in February you will get 15 days by land or 30 days by air. Not enough.

A border run from Phuket to Ranong will get you 15 days.

You do not say how you are returning to Thailand in February.

I assumed by saying we were flying to Kuala Lumpur and then referring to getting a 30 day visa waiver, you would have understood that we were flying back to Phuket from Kuala Lumpur.

Also if we do the Visa Run from Khao Lak to Ranong and then across to Myanmar we will, by going through Immigration on both sides as we did last year, get another 90 day extension. I am wondering if we can use this short trip to do it but it will probably have to do it in Kuala Lumpur at the Thai Embassy if we have time.

1. If you obtain multi entry non immigrant O visa any entry gets a new 90 day permitted to stay stamp.

2. If you only have single entry O visa you might want to change your stay in KL an extra day to obtain a tourist visa for return stay of 60 days.
