Overstayed 300 days and now going to border this week and hope everything goes ok and they just fine me the 20000 baht... What i can say is though is that it wasnt worth it... Always looking behind your back shitting yourself everytime you get stopped at a police roadblock ... Would i do it again??? No chance... Not looking forward to it my stomach is churning and im very worried as i want to come back in ...

umm are you sure you can sort it at the land border crossing. I was under the impression that you could only safely do a long overstay at the airport with a flight out.

Maybe some one has upto date info for you.. 300 days is not so much . I know some one that has about 5 years overstay and no passport (maybe he has a passport now, he was talking about getting one about 12 mths ago)

Good luck. You might need it.

The problem you have with land crossings.. what if the immigration blacklist you (unlikely) so you can not return to Thailand. You then have the hassle of trying to get a flight from Laos or Cambodia.

Hope fully some one will come up with some valid info.. where are you thinking for your crossing?

I noticed Vientienne is more problematic for visa's now.

phnom phen might be your best bet.

]I think everyone needs a passport to fly out of Thailand.

You can however go to Myanmar / Burma on a Thai ID for a day.

Which land border are you going to try and exit ?

Good luck toffo.

Thanks and looking at the replies the land crossing is scaring me so i think ill fly..

Just fly out, go through immigration on the other side and turn around and fly back.

Look for the cheapest airasia flight to anywhere, and book it.

Don't think you need to fly out. I overstayed about 6 years ago by i think 3-4 months. Long story why, but I did a land boarder crossing, however i was on a train going to Penang so that might have made a difference, but I really don't think so. The guys at the boarder were all laughing saying what did I do forget? asked if I need a receipt I told them no just need everything done correctly in my passport they were all smiles after that and actually gave me a cup of coffee while they did the paper work. I too was really really worried but it was not a problem at all. I went to Penang and got a B visa came back a few days later.

This was about 5-6 years ago so I don't know if they still don't really care or if they are strict right now.

In any case good luck!!

As you correctly point out....this was 5-6 years, almost a whole life time ago, as you know yourself what is ok today in Thailand, may not be tomorrow....

Think the OP has made the right choice to fly out and sort out his overstay at the airport...
