Contents Insurence For Rented House .. Any Advice?

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing as contents insurence for rented houses....and is it worth it?

3000thb for a million Baht cover with Gary at AA insurance Meechok plaza

Yes but it is not worth it. When you read the fine print you see that they won't pay for very much at all.

As long as they pay more out than 3000thb if anything bad does happen then its worth it in my eyes

Building Insurance seems to contain contents insurance and flood cover. Even if you are renting, you are responsible for the house / condo in Thailand.

Yes this is true.

Our landlord wanted us to get insurance on his building. We reviewed some policies from big name Thai Insurance companies. Under the contents clause, all of them excluded any reimbursement for loss (theft) of gold, precious gems, cash, and a number of other things. The electronics were devalued so much that they hardly paid anything for them.

The only thing that was attractive was if there was an accident on the property, there was coverage.

I agree with what you are saying about buildings insurance when you are renting .I do think that you need to check with your Landlord ,when we moved from our previous house to a new one our landlord told us that he had the property insured and gave us a copy of the buildings insurance. We only needed to get contents insurance . Gary at AA insurance will get you the cover that you need.
