August 7, 201114 yr Another forum is reporting the following: "At today's Pattaya City Expats Club Meeting,(7th August) Barry Kenyon (former Honorary UK Consul in Pattaya and assists foreigners at the information counter at the Chonburi Immigration Office on Jomtien Beach Soi 5), announced that more documentation will be required for 90 day address reporting. He said the orders came from Immigration headquarters in Bangkok -- in addition to the application (TM 47 form), you will need a copy of your passport face page, the Immigration Stamp page (I presume this will be the latest extension stamp), and the white Departure Card that is stapled in the passport - you will also need a document that shows your current address (utility bill, telephone bill, lease, etc.). He said he expects that this will be phased in - that is, when you do your next report, you will be told to bring those items with you the next time." I want to know: 1. Is this report true? 2. If so does it apply to BKK immigration as well as Pattaya? 3.If true is it effective now or when? 4. Has anyone heard anything official from the immigration department? Thank you. August 7, 201114 yr as far as i was aware they have (immigration)always wanted prove of address,i always take my true monthly bill with me,but ive never been asked for any prove of address.
August 7, 201114 yr have always taken the documents listed, if they required them they kept them, sometimes I was given them back.
August 8, 201114 yr Yes in KK. They told me a couple of weeks ago that they now require more stuff. I did my 90 day report in KK last week and for the first time ever they also required a photocopy of the picture page of my passport and a photocopy of my current extension of stay stamp along with the filled in TM47 form.
August 8, 201114 yr I always provided these documents for my 90-day reporting : - a copy of passport face page - a copy of latest Immigration Stamp page - a copy of Departure Card - a copy of arrival stamp in Thailand On these pages, they outlined with a pen these : - my passport number - date my extension ends - card number - date of arrival I never provided a proof of address though. I put everything in a letter, and they send me back everything, so I can resend them the lot 90 days later... I'm in Bangkok.
August 8, 201114 yr Think the amusing aspect of this is that were they not talking a while ago about being able to do the 90 report on-line, to make it easier for people and it seems they have done a 180 and are now making more agravating for people...ie more photocopies. Strange thing is been doing 90 reports for nigh on 10 years and never been asked for anything other than to staple the white bit of paper in the passport..
August 8, 201114 yr By mail you always have to provide photo copies as it is all you give them - in person you give them the original document so there should not be any need for photo copies. But suspect they are either providing faster service by entering information into computers after hours from the copies rather than in real time or using the copies for a double check. In either case it really does not appear to be very 'green'.
August 8, 201114 yr ...ie more photocopies. There must be an enormous room in some of these immigration offices full of these pointless photocopies that actually serve no purpose, probably similar to the ones in banks. Edited August 8, 201114 yr by theoldgit theoldgit
August 8, 201114 yr As I am off to do my 90 day reporting in two days, I got my secretary to cal the immigration office we use (outside bangkok). My secretary just informed me that "For british passport, no change" - i.e. the filled in form and my passport is all that is required. So, this is for in person reporting, and whether to read anything or not into the "For british passport" bit, I have no idea. I will say that Immigration office has always handled telephone enquiries (from my secretary!!) extremely well - prompt, apparently polite and always helpful.
August 8, 201114 yr As you don't need to report in person, unless it's late, have you considered getting your secretary to do the report for you? theoldgit
August 8, 201114 yr A fair point, but not really. In the scheme of things, she is much more useful in the day to day running of things than I am, and most of my work is pretty portable...
August 8, 201114 yr Don't forget that you can also mail your 90 day report. Only a few offices don't accept it.
August 9, 201114 yr Just renewed our 90day report in Udon for wife and me. Same procedures as always....passport, single copy of 90 report, wait 5 minutes, done. Smile included.
