When cashing-in US$ travellers-cheques (or for that matter, using them to open an account in Thai-Baht in a Thai-Bank), what exchange rate are we getting? I believe it's the "TT" rate, but I am not sure.

Cheers & thanks.

Try looking at www. bankexchangerates.daytodaydata.net and change the currencies as required. You will also have another box which should give you options like, notes, TT etc.

It will be the Sight Bill rate which seems to be locked at 0.1 baht/USD lower (varies by currency) than the TT Buying Rate. Or, at least that is what I got when cashing travelers cheques at Bangkok Bank years back. There is also usually an approx 20-30 baht fee per travelers cheque (or use to be), so use large denomination cheque to minimize this fee. You can also see at K-Bank's web site that the Travelers Cheque and Sight Bill rates are the same. K-Bank Link
