Hi there. I have 2 scenarios and I haven't decided which one I will do.

This winter I'm planning on coming to Thailand to stay at a Muay Thai camp.

I'm going to stay for December, January and Feb.

For this stay what type of visa do I need if I plan to leave after the 3 months, or 90 days?

My second choice would be to stay from December to the beginning of April then fly to South Korea, then back to Canada. In this case would I need a different type of visa? I would be in Thailand for just over 4 months.

Also, I would rather not buy a round trip from Canada to Thailand, then Thailand to Korea because I might not want to stay that long. I would rather have the option of just getting a one way ticket, that way if after 3 months I want to head back to Canada I can, or I can decide to stay a little longer and fly to Korea in April.

Thanks for your help.

Requirements vary from one consulate to another so best to ask what they require to issue a visa. You should apply for a single or double entry Tourist Visa depending on how long you decide to stay. Each entry would be valid for a stay of 60 days and each can be extended for 30 days for a 1900 Baht fee. You would just have to do a border run just before the end of the first 90 days to make your second entry while the visa is still valid.

Full agreement here. Get a double entry tourist visa. You're covered for 60 + 30 days, and then a quick cross-border trip for any remaining time you need.

As said a single entry Tourist Visa will give 3 months with an extension.

A double entry will give up to 6 months with extensions and a border run in the middle.

A return ticket is not needed as long as you have a Visa although the Consulate might or might not require one to issue the Visa.

The Thai consulate in Toronto does not require a return ticket for issuance of a Tourist Visa.
