Rooo
It is called supply & demand. Maenam , concentrated tourists, Bang Por passing trade. Same as why is beer sold at 80 baht or 40 baht in other places.

smokie36
Same is true anywhere....catch your own is cheapest followed by buying from the fisherman...the wholesaler in bulk...the local market...local fish restaurant...then tourist places. Up to you....
carmine
The fish flies with Bangkok airways. In which case we'd be eating squid priced like lobster.
robsamui
Bottles of beer come in only 2 sizes. But are all red snappers the same? Hasn't the size and weight of what you just happen to be eating got a lot to do with it? R
PoorSucker
I eat fish in either a place between Nathon and Bang por. (Only Thai Sign, owner speaks excellent English.) Nice place in Thong krut. The fish restaurants behind Pang Bua market (Between Chaweng lake and Chaweng ring road). There you can get your snapper for 150. As said, go to the local places.
