I am about to renewal my one-year visa O - spousal as it expries next month. A friend told me that Thai immigration doesn't require the US Income verification document (1,020 baht) anymore as they learned it really is a meaningless process. Now the US Embassy still lists this on their website as a service but I don't want to go through the process (interview and money) if I don't need to.

When I want to get Thai immigration today to get the checklist of what's required (it was not listed for US citizens), the kids at the information desk were not helpful as to my question.....

Last year, they required both the consulate's income verification form and a copy of my financial statements showing that I make more than a monthl;y income of 40,000 baht. I elected to go this route than to transfer their requirement of showing 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank at one point in time (two months ahead of visa) .

Thanks in advance,

CB

you talked to the wrong people, if you did not talk to an officer in a uniform. Other suggestion is to look at the thai immigration website... if it is listed there, it is (likely) required.
