Can anyone please recommend a good optician who can do single lens glasses quickly. Hubby had a mishap with his on a flight earlier and cannot read without them., or maybe somewhere where you can buy over the counter reading ones which would do as a stopgap.

The hospitals usually have opticians. Most of the eyeglass shops do one of those "can you see better with this or this" exams. I use Beautiful Optical which has two locations in Jomtien. I paid 10K baht for no-line bi-focals so don't let them charge you more... This was with Titanium frames and Zies lenses.

Over the counter glasses can be had on the stalls in Tuk.com on South Pattaya Rd.

I would be surprised if any shop made you wait more than 24 hours for lenses. Most can probably get them done in just a couple of hours, if asked.
