How long filter has been installed? Did you back wash it?

Normally, sand in the filter will be 3 years last. There is other stuff to fill in the sand filter instead of sand, it's called glass media which is about 8 years last. I'm woking in a swimming pool company in Hua Hin. As my experienced, you should do the back wash once a month to clean the filter, however, its depened on what kind of water that you used to fill in your swimming pool. If it was well water, the long last for all equipments are shorter than it should be.

Pak Sant.

Sand lasting 3 yrs is a bit optimistic!!wink.gif Unless it is silicone sand!

It is very soft hear in Thailand and if backwashing more than once a month needs changing yearly.

Correct with a domestic pool with low use - backwashing monthly.

Anymore is a waste or water and breaks the sand down.

Zeolite or glass is the way to go.

I prefer Zeolite from experience and it takes out organics as well.

Changing the media is not a hard job, just tedious!

Good luck!

You only need to change your sand if the sand has gone smooth if it still feels gritty it should be okay. It is not a hard job to do just go steady take your time.
