Custom Sliding Doors Or Partitions

Hello all,

I am looking to install some sliding doors in my condo, i'm looking for something with an Asian/Japanese feel. I have searched the internet for Bangkok companies that may handle this, yet came up empty. I want the doors to be fitted onto the existing walls/ceiling. I have a few photos from a TV show .... pictures are worth a thousand words.

Any advice appreciated.

Homepro has sliding doors like those.

Are you going to buy the doors and fit them yourself or get someone else to fit them, Homepro will install for a price.

Another alternative is to go to the Bang Sue area of Bkk and troll the many stores in the district.

Thanks, your input is very appreciated. I will check homepro. I am pretty handy but it may be one of those things I just can't be bothered by. I also have a hard time finding my go to DIY supplies here. In short, it all depends on the installation price quote :)

The time frame that i'm looking to do this is a bit off in the future, so i'd love to swing by Bang Sue as well. Is it just as simple as heading to Bang Sue? Or is there a specific street? I was told by a Thai that Chatuchak Market may have some options as well. Anyway, thanks again!!

Read answer number 8 in this previous thread on the same topic,

Based on your answer above on being pretty handy, then ignore my advice about Homepro, better quality and cheaper elsewhere.

As for JJ market, I wouldnt bother, by all means pay it a visit, but after visiting you will understand why I say not to bother, a lot of the stuff is overpriced arty farty crap, looks ok from a distance but doesnt stand up to closer inspection.

Thanks again, I have a feeling this will be the exact type of thing I was looking for, sounds beyond my expectations actually. Here is that post number 8 referred to above if anybody wants it....

"O.K. Oz...bit of a D.I.Y bloke meself as a) Its cheaper :D I enjoy it so......

For lumber check out two sois running parallel to each other off Pracharat Road in Bang Sue district. Don't know the names of the 2 sois ( each about 1 kilometre long ) but they are pretty well opposite the Bang Po police station or near the Bang Po branches of the Bangkok bank or the Gasigorn bank ( according to my A-Z map of bangkok map A34 grid ref G and half / 4 and half sois marked in brown ) If you can get a taxi to the area and ask around everyone will know. Parking is tight but possible. These 2 sois have absoluteley everything you could want in the way of lumber, from just ordinary stuff to the most intricate carvings you can think of. By carvings I mean gingerbread stuff, name plates, lattice work , coving, decorative strips for furniture construction etc etc. If you can't get it here...its not available anywhere....and at the cheapest prices in town. Altogether must be around 100 wood merchants here.

For plants, drive to the end of Rattanatibet road ( 25 k past the Mall, Ngamwongwarn road ) then turn left down the route 9 Kanchanapisek Road. Immediatley you will see scores of plant ( green type ? ) venders on plots of land next to the road. Here you can buy anything growing from houseplants to full grown trees with their rootballs in small sacks. Busy on Sundays when all the Thais drive out here for cheap plants. This green strip runs for a few kilometres...just keep going . :o "

Regards.
