Vat And Customs Duty In Thailand On Imported Goods?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a bicycle from abroad (maybe on eBay from USA or Europe) while being in Thailand.

Do I need to pay (extra) VAT and/or customs duty to import it to Thailand? And how much if so?

And is it safe enough... if I use a recognized courier service like e.g. DHL?

Thanks in advance!

Alan

Of course you will pay import duty. It's too big an item that won't slip under the gaze of officials. Plus courier firms, such as DHL, automatically collect import duty for the Thai government. As for 'how much' ? You won't know until it arrives on your doorstep. They won't release it until the duty is paid.

I think you're crazy in what you want to do and don't think it's viable. Your choice !! I've seen shops in BKK that sell quality bikes. There's one facing Lumpini Park.

I gave the site for import duties already a few times on this forum. You can also google for it. As simple as that.
