How Many Tuk Tuks In Phuket..Who Owns Them.

A few years ago the Gazette did an article on tuk tuks,it described the diferrant types, eg side loading, rear loading etc and the different colours.who the owners where eg owner drivers, rental owners etc..

if i remember right, they mentioned how many registered tuk tuks there were on the road at that time..

it would be interesting for some answers to the following questions...

...

1 how many tuk tuks are there regitsered now...

..

2 who owns them and what percentage...eg..[owner drivers, tuk tuk cartels, privateers etc]

3 how many registered tuk tuk members societies[eg Patong ,karon, Kata, kamala etc]

it would be good if we could get the original article from the Gazette to make some comparisons..with all the publicity the tuk tuks are getting at the moment, it could be an interesting Topic...

Probably not a great place (here on TV) to ask this sort of question. How we would any members know ? Suggest you enquire at the gov department that issues the licences.

the 'other' media source we can't quote from mentioned there are over 600 taxis/tuktuks in an article 30 August; but that would only be the registered ones, maybe just as many 'illegals' on the road?

That was just the Patong federation..

Then Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin, etc.. I would guess at at least 2000 tuktuks and almost as many black taxis.
