Specific Dentist Recommendation Please?

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forums here, I'm travelling in campot, cambodia and yesterday I chipped one of my front teeth. I'm going to need to see a dentist so I'm headed to bangkok. I've searched on the forum and there are lots of discussions about dentists but most recommendations are for a clinic, usually the ones that are specifically geared towards foreigners and (I assume) priced accordingly. I'd rather go to a competent local dentist who doesn't pay for all the flashy advertising and real estate. Can anyone recommend a good one? I'd prefer recommendations for dentists rather than clinics but I'll take what I can get. I assume (I hope!) a chipped tooth is a fairly routine thing, but still, I don't want to have shoddy work done that I'll have to have redone when I return the the united states. So if the only way I can get good work done is to go to a clinic, please let me know, but I hope that's not the case. Thanks alot.

Where in Bangkok are you staying?

I live in Nonthaburi and there are a couple of good dentists around there, one on the corner of Ngamwongwan 27 next to TMB or further down the road opposite the Mall Ngamwongwan.

I'll probably be staying in one of the guesthouses near khao san road, but I know it's asking alot to find a place close to there. I'm sure I can find my way to that area of town if you could provide a phone number, address or website for one of the dentists you recommend in Nonthaburi. Many thanks!

I did my chipped tooth with Dr.Pruksa, my regular dentist since 2008, speaks good english , nothing fancy about the clinic just quality work

google " pruksa dental" worth trying if you're near there, anyway there are plenty of dental clinics in bangkok

Most Thai dentists work out of clinics, and those in solo practice may not offer what you need. If the pulp of the tooth has not been damaged then you need is to have the tooth smoothed out a bit and a veneer applied. If the pulp has been damaged (will need an Xray first to tell) then a root c anal or even extraction may be required.

If it is a question of just a veneer, they are less expensive in Cambodia than in Thailand and there are some good quality Dental clinics in Phnom Penh. Pachem, Roomchang, Apsara and Bright Smile Dental Clinics (all in Phnom Penh) being some that are widely used by foreigners.

In contrast to medical care, for which people usually leave Cambodia, dental tourists actually travel to it, especially those seeking otherwise costly cosmetic work.
