I'll reply to this one with related question.

How much to pay for cleaning service done by hour?

I'm about to hire a local villager to clean my home and need to negotiate a rate which would be good for both parties.

If a cleaning lady monthly salary would be 9.000 baht and normal work month is 26 days*8 hours=208 hours/month. This would result 43 baht/hour.

But then again, work done by hourly is quite often more expensive. Therefore what would a reasonable rate for work for 2 days/week and some hours for each day?

We tried this 3 years ago before my present maid, and paid 500 baht for each short day. Not very happy with neither the show up frequensy or quality, thus hiring a full time maid at 8500 baht/month pluss accomodation, el, cabel etc, working 9-5, 5 days a week.

She works other places on her days off, and makes 500-1000 baht a day

as the legal minimum day worker salary is moving to 300 baht/day, it wont be easy to hire a reliabel person below 600/day

OP you should state where you need cleaning, as travelling across the island wont make it cost less

Thanks KBB. 600 per day would be 75 per hour and 16.000 per month, which is reasonable for hourly work at least.

Good luck finding a reliable person to clean your house for 75 Baht an hour. Why would it take 8 hours to clean your house if she could do it in three? I had a part time house cleaner, three days a week, about 3 hours a day. I paid her about 400 Baht per day and that was over three years ago. She did a good job, but she moved away.

I just try to figure out what is the correct rate for cleaning work. Therefore all the information what others have been paying is helpful. I also do not wish to pay extra just because I'm farang. Well I'll be paying some extra anyway, but hopefully not too much.

The only way I know how to do this is to ask what others has been paying, then break out the costs to hourly, daily or monthly salaries to get some understanding what it is supposed to be.

As I'm living in more remote area of Phuket that should work for my benefit. Then again, part time work includes some wasted time for moving from one location to another and therefore it's naturally more expensive than full time maid service.

Anyway it's better to get some information before we'll start talking about the prices. I do not wish to get quotation of 300 baht per hour, take it or leave it.

KBB's house is a bit bigger than most. It takes a couple of days just to clean the garage!

It was a joke KBB. The house is on the market for hundreds of million baht. I don't know how rich you are, but presume not quite in this range.biggrin.png
