Even with a 20m dish in Ubon there is still no coverage direct from the UK, for real. So you have to get the Multichoice subscription like you say or if you have any friends in (no joke) Pakistan you can get a cheap subscription card from there at 1/3 the cost direct from StarTV in HK.
