Passport Expire On 01/02/12

Featured Replies

Hello, my tourist visa expire this week and i was thinking of staying 12 more day, i know i can get a 15 day stamp a Mae Sai border but my passport is valid for a little less than 6 month (end the 1st feb 2012)

Is it still possible to get a stamp or should i not try and just pay the overstay a i leave, i really dont want to get stuck in burma.

Thanks.

Passport must be valid for duration of stay, so for Thailand you will be OK. For Myanmar it appears the same rule applies, but not sure as I don't know your nationality.

You should be OK.

Ok thanks, i read somewhere that the passport must be valid for 6 month to apply for visa/visa stamp but it may be old regulation. Guess ill do the border run just to be safe. By the way my passport is canadian

Old Regulation.

For most western Passports it has to be valid for the duration of the trip.

Actually for visa issue from Consulate believe they still use the six month figure as they do not know when you will enter the country - but for entry as long as your passport is valid for the entry period there should not be any issue. But as said other countries could well have heartburn.

Ok thanks, i guess since im not even going into the country ill be alright, if not maybe a 1000 bath bill will work its way into the Myanmar agent pocket :whistling:

Money talks :whistling:

Mae Sai boarder is usually very liberal. Especially since you are only going there on a "Day Pass"

Most likely will not be any problem, but if they question your passport validity, Money always talks there.
