Tourist Visa And K1 Visa

Featured Replies

I am a USA citizen, living in the USA. My fiance is a Thai citizen.

If my fiance has a tourist visa for the USA, and I apply for a K1 fiance visa for her, at what point in the process will she lose her tourist Visa?

As soon as I apply, or as when the embassy issues her a K1 Visa will they then cancel her tourist visa.

I am assuming you can't keep both visas.

I believe your fiance should be able to hold on to her tourist visa until she receives the appointment for the K1 Fiance Visa interview in Bangok. That process usually takes 6 - 8 months. She will have to return to Thailand then because she can not get interviewed at a USCIS location here in the US. Also, keep in mind that during the K1-Visa process she will have to go for a medical checkup and vaccine at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangok.
