Gents and ladies

For past 3 years i have received Multiple NON O Visa from KL based on Marrige to a Thai national, my exisiting visa expeires on 21st Sept, the O Visa suites me well as i travel twice per month within the region, so i have 2 questions my next trip is Jakarta so imthinking for a change to get the visa at the the embassy in Jakarta, does anyone know if this is feeasible.

My other question is my income is paid in Hong kong as i work for a hong kong company, am i able to apply for an extension of stay based on income not 400k in a thai bank, with a letter from the UK embassy confirming my income, also as my visa expires on 21st have i run out of time.

Just weighing up my options and trying to work out the best way forward.

Not sure if it makes any difference but we also have a 4 year old son.

Thanks in advance for your help its much appreciated

Not many reports about Indonesia, so can't answer if you will get a multiple there.

Yes, based on your income, confirmed by your embassy, you can get an extension of stay. But you first get 30 days, after which you have to return to immigration. If you travel frequently, you have to plan well.

But if you really travel twice per months out of Thailand, you might not need a visa at all if traveling by air. As a UK citizen you get a stay for up to 30 days each time you fly into Thailand and can extend this by 60 days based on your child/wife if need be.

Thanks so much for your quick response, im thinking i may do the extension of stay, the 30 days option worries me a little.

Could you advise me as my visa expires on 21st September whats the latest i can apply for it, example could i do the application on the 20th September?

Thanks again

You can apply during the last 30 days of any 90 day permission, including the last day of your permission to stay. But as said, that gives you little time if you are missing some document or something.

If you go for the extension, don't forget to get a re-entry permit.

I would do it before then, what happens if you do not have all the required documents.....Go this week

I agree with beano - NEVER wait until the 11th hour, especially when dealing with the bureaucrats!:annoyed:

Gents

Thanks so much for all your help and advice much appreciated. quickest i can get to immergration would be monday as i have to get the letter from my embassy and my wife needs to get the Khor ror 2.

I noted in one of Marios replies that i can apply within the last 30 days of a permission to stay.

So just wanted to check though my visa expires on 21st Sept i actually have permmision to stay until 2nd December so i guess i can apply during that period of permission to stay?

At least that way i can get prepared properly without rushing around and having the potential of not haveing everything i need.

Thanks again guys

In that case you should not apply before November 3. So you have plenty of time. It is all about permission to stay unless you are talking about a new entry into Thailand (when visa validity would be a factor).

Thanks lopburi

My only problem with that is im travelling on 3rd October so when i return my visa will have expired, would it be ok to apply before i travel. Thanks

I suspect a new multi entry non immigrant O visa would be easier for everyone with such frequent travel. Only when you intend to stay in Thailand without leaving does the extension of stay make much sense. If you can not obtain multi entry in Jakarta an overnight in KL with proof of 100k in bank account and normal marriage/id/home register copies would work.

As said you would need a re-entry permit for all travel. 1,000 baht each and only valid to current permitted to stay date. Much easier to obtain multi entry visa.

The non imm o from KL, is this a 90 day visa, and then extension based on income/deposit. Or is it a total of one year and then a possible extension based on income/deposit?

does that make sense?

A multi entry non immigrant O visa is valid for one year and allows unlimited entry for up to 90 days each visit. No extension of stay required - you just leave and on each return get a new 90 day stay. If situation changes and plan to remain in Thailand then any entry, during last 30 days, can be used as the visa entry for one year extension of stay from Immigration. For those who travel often visa is likely better than extension of stay.
