Actually katoyes are more #worth# in thailand than girls because there are not so many of them.I visited a family that have a katoey and he was the centre of the family because he was something special ,,,,,,next after me that is. So if you are a cacausian male in thailand i think you will be more respected with a katoye by your side than a girl........Exept if you are loaded with cash and it shows.

Atleast a katoye looks like a lady. :o

Wow, I thought you were joking! Bambina has always had the sexiest posts on TV with undoubtably many readers thinking "marry me" after reading many of them. I always envisioned a saucy university girl. Now I clicked your name and I see your picture and well, I have to smile. I didn't know. Good for you and glad to have your perspective represented here!

I kind of like boys who look like girls who look like boys, but at the end of the night, they need to be boys. She understood and promised to find me a young man-man.

What if it was a girl who looked like a boy who looked like a girl,

...and who was also transgendered.

Thanks for asking, but it didn't work out. This boyish looking Malaysian female only heard that I liked boys who looked like girls. So she set me up with two THAI KATOEY boys in dresses! I left before they arrived.

For the Thai passport, I believe the salutation would be "Mr." followed by the first name, in English (transliterated). The sex would show as "M". Boarding cards issued by airlines would also contain the "Mr." salutation. Not sure what this salutation might be if you are a Dr.? Thai immigration officials, for those leaving Thailand, are probably not prone to giggling as they are used to it. ASEAN immigration officers are likely accustomed to the phenomenon? I can only imagine how my home country's immigration officials would deal with the situation? Not sure about the ID cards, they're in Thai, but it is easy to imagine that some Thai surnames are gender unique?

Bambina,

You are a cutie pie! You have to love us straight farangs guys...most of us looked at your picture, and got "hot and bothered". Now after your revelation, most are just bothered wondering if they're homosexual. Just goes to show...no matter their age, no matter how much they strut and brag, they're just insecure little boys at heart.

  • 4 weeks later...
and for my experience when  i had BFs.. people  get it..( they just  think im a  genetic girl)

Checking to make sure she doesn't have a Y chromosome.

Forget adam's apple, timbre of voice, size of feet, mannerisms etc.

I have found only one sure-fire way to tell.

The palm of the hand of a genetic male is roughly square shaped. A genetic female's palm is narrower making a rectangle.

*peers at hand*

:D

I must be genetically male... and all these years I'd thought I was female both in geno- and pheno-type. :o

What if it was a girl who looked like a boy who looked like a girl,

...and who was also transgendered.

To finish the story, then: I arrived back at the British pub, there in Malaysia. The waitress ushered me over to a THAI female prostitute who got off on the wrong foot by telling me, without knowing the first thing about me "My price is too high for you." The 'boys' they had arranged for me to meet (who never showed up) were THAI young men dressed as women. I said no thanks, paid everybody's bill, and left alone.

Repeating: a post-op khatoey isn't a khatoey any more, she's simply a woman, a female. No need for anybody to talk about life as a lady-boy anymore. By contrast, a pre-op khatoey is maybe a million baht short of being a female, and he still has male equipment. Proceed accordingly.

You straight men who are on the prowl have a problem, and hand size won't tell you the gender. I know a 40-kilo gay Thai with long hair who could put on a dress and fool you with his tiny hands. I haven't had any problem, as a gay man on the prowl in Thailand, because I haven't found any females impersonating males.

Just want to know how Thai people will react while I introduce my GF being a Transgendered.]

KR Alex

NO.....most thai people do not look down at your girlfriend. I used to live in the non-tourist part of bangkok for 16 years, we didn't have any problem with them.

We even saw them in the same temple...it's fine by everybody, as long as you act normal (do not over act)

The only problem we had was many of us do get jalous if the Ka-toey is very pretty...which most of the ka-toey are any way.

Don't worry too much...in certain thing, thai people are not that judgemental!

a sort of related incident first got me thinking about the issue of a code of ethics for genders of non-conventional persuation.  i was at the gym locker room recently, in the presence of a couple of obviously gay individuals who were chatting in a corner.  when i got the rest of my kit off, i noticed the 2 individuals looking over and quite unabashedly appraising me from top to toe, as if they were entreated to a beauty contest.  now i am normally not very self conscious and wouldn't care less, but it dawned on me that if i were to be standing in the corner of the ladies dressing room with a buddy of mine and doing the same to all the ladies coming through and changing in front of us, it wouldn't quite draw the same indifference to which i afforded these 2.  it would be an outright invasion on their modesty, to say the least, or even seen as a sexual assault.

it seemed unfair to me that a person of homo-sexual persuation could exploit their right to be in a male changing room in such a way, well all power to them, but their right of access ends where my right to privacy and non-harrassment begins.  in the same way, a transgender individual also owes it to the world at large, who is unsuspecting, to warn them of their circumstance before they are rudely awakened to the fact.  the respect has to run both ways.

Doesn't seem to me that *you* were actually harassed, now, were you? Do you regularly get harassed by gay guys who don't know you? You mention the two guys were chatting- so they knew each other, and were giving each other a once-over, perhaps by mutual request- which is a bit of a far cry from a big bad gay stranger aggressively checking *you* out in the locker room (which didn't actually happen). You might take a cue from most straight Asian guys, who tend to be complimented when a gay guy likes them (as a sign they are attractive).

I find that people who want to pre-emptively complain/restrain the reasonable, non-pornographic *expression* of homosexuality in public even when it doesn't actually affect or involve them (except to make them uncomfortable witnesses) often bring up this "invasion of privacy" type stuff, even as they walk down the street holding hands comfortably with their girlfriends and wives, kiss a date on the lips in public, or make appreciative comments to their friends about the sexy ladies passing by. Perhaps even the consideration of how this would have made you feel if it had happened (though it didn't- were you disappointed? gay guys don't find you attractive enough to check you out?) might make you think twice about how women might really regard your "appreciation."

Furthermore, I happen to know (because I've seen it and straight guys admit to it) that *straight* guys check each other out surreptitiously (including, um, the lengths of their manhood) in the shower, locker room, and in bathrooms. It's a pecking order and bonding thing- same, really, as making comments about a friend's weight or dress. Is that exploiting their right to be in the men's washroom, too? If not, then why can't gay guys do it, too?

In this regard, both transgendered people and g/l/bis have the same effect on those who are insecure: we make them uncomfortable, our very existence suggesting that their taboos are open to question. That's why they want us in the closet, invisible to their insecurities.

Reminds me a bit of the thinly-veiled allegorical scene in X-Men II [one of the great subversive gay movies] when Nightcrawler asks the Shape-shifter why, if she can pass as "normal" all the time, she doesn't? And after demonstrating that what he says is true, she responds, "Because I shouldn't have to."

Sorry to drag this vaguely off-topic again, but didn't see this until today.

"Steven"
