chrisoary Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Hi, Just a quick question. How quickly after the online application can you get the appointment at the British embassy? I just need to know when to get the Mrs to complete it, I am away working at the moment and wont be home in thailand for a month. I have quite a small window between jobs (1 week) to get down to Bangkok and get everything sorted. Cheers in advance Chris
toddmeister Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Hi Chris, I just came back from submitting my wifes application. If there are appointments available you can book the following day but no more than a week in advance, so yes in effect you are given a weeks window. We completed the online application on the 12th and the appointments were full for the following day, but free for the remaining days of that week. So for us it was complete application on Monday 12th and booked an appointment for the following Monday 19th. I'm sure you already know, but just to clarify the appointment is not actually at the British Embassy but at the VFS office at Regent House. Good luck
7by7 Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Not sure what you are asking. Do you mean how quickly do you get an appointment at the UK visa application centre to submit the paperwork and have biometrics taken? If so, see the above post. Or do you mean how long after that do you have an interview at the embassy? If so, very few applicants these days are called into the embassy for an interview. If interviewed at all it will probably be done over the phone. The actual processing time for a visa depends on the type of visa applied for, visit visas are usually processed more quickly than settlement ones for example, and how busy the entry clearance section at the embassy are; the more applications they have received the longer an individual application is going to take. The latest published figures (July) show around 10 working days for visit visas and 60 working days for settlement visas. Anecdotally these have reduced lately, particularly settlement, as they cleared the backlog of applications made in the first half of the year.
Frogster Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Hi Chris, I agree with toddmeister (steve) above..... We did it last week, appointments were available for the next 6 days for us, we booked for last Monday and it all worked well. Regards Kev
