There's no easy answer. It depends on what subject, what location, what company or institution (if any), how many students, how many hours per week, and what you're willing to sell yourself for.

As a rule of thumb, I don't think it's worth getting out of bed for less than 400B an hour for anyone who's not giving you a work permit, but then I have a degree and a number of years of experience (plus a work permit of my own).

If you're talking a larger group, the price should go up. If you're talking distance out of central Bangkok (especially away from BTS or MRT) you should charge for both time and transport. If you're teaching something more specialized than EFL (like math), the price should be higher. And if you're teaching at a rich company which can afford it (and you wear a nice suit), the price should be higher. If it's on weekends using up your free days rather than after work on weekdays, it should be higher.

Some examples:

A Thai friend's relative that I taught English to at a mutually convenient BTS stop on Saturdays I charged 500B- I would've gone down to my minimum 400 but it *was* a Saturday.

A company class that met 90min. a week not so close to my home, I charged 200B+1000/hr because of the group size and my travel distance.

For awhile I tutored some prathom kids in math at home- a bit inconveniently located but still central- 700B an hour.

It's really what you can work out with the private students in question.
