Exchanging Gas Bottles

Featured Replies

Is there anywhere in Phuket where you can get your own gas bottles refilled

We have a new bottle and every time we exchange our bottle we are given a older one

where we lived previously and this happens everywhere we go unless you inspect

the bottles yourself, which they do not like

The wife always tells the shop on the phone before they bring over the replacement bottle that the existing bottle is new. Then they bring a like for like.

Not sure if they still fill bottles but there is a gas appliances show room place on Chao Fa East about 300m south of the traffic light to the zoo. Left side coming from Chalong. They have big gas tanks round the back, years ago they filled bottles for me. Worth asking.

I had new ones before, but I think I'm over it now. I don't want to drive around looking. It seems like whenever I call, they can't deliver right then and I'm cooking something and I don't want to wait...

I have used the same lady in Rawai for the last 5 years. She only keeps about 10 bottles and she always make sure they are fairly new.If you take an old dirty one she will not accept it.She will also deliver around Rawai.

Her place is about 50 meters from the entrance to Rawai Condo coming from Chalong

I also, many years ago had my own, bright and shiney new gas bottle and always had the same problem as the OP.

Frankly, just change it for one that they give you. Otherwise, life gets complicated.

After all, it's just a gas bottle.

Does the condition of the bottle effect the refund when you want to give it back?

HAS anyone given one back and received a refund?

seconded, gave up like 5 years ago, at 1.000 baht or so, and I have 2 so never run out of gas, and the gas motocy just comes and replace one when we call, and I never see them in the gas compartment in garage anyway

new bottles only, Chao Fa east approx 5-700 meters after L&H main entrance, after Chalong Glass aluminum, left side, lady trades in new bottles only

Not an epedemic for sure but I have had two separate occasions where leaking bottles were delivered. I usually do the old standby test of spraying soapy water on all the connections mainly because I have no job and sleep in a van under the bridge. If you observe how most bottles are carried around, loose, rolling back and forth on their sides etc.,etc. you can surmise that we are not in Kansas anymore and damage can occur. The problem with being complacent in this area (not under the bridge) is that the gas leaks can evolve into some pretty spectacular fireworks with some not so pretty results. All in all it's good to check your set-ups after changing.

Thanks for the replies, Chaofa east road sounds good

I will buy a second bottle so we do not run out and we keep our new bottles

I would not suprise me if some of the older bottles leak the way they are transported

and I never see them in the gas compartment in garage anyway

Our gas bottle is on the ground floor well away from anywhere people would be; kitchen on the 1st floor.

Amazing how many gas bottles are right underneath the stove that they are feeding. A potential bomb.

The majority of gas bottles here are under the cook top and the gas has a distinct smell which you cannot mistake

The 4 places i have lived in the bottled gas is under the cook top

As you would know as a seaman bottled gas is very dangerous in boats because it is heavier than air and settles in the bottom of a boat if it leaks

and turns the boat into a bomb

I doubt they test bottles on a regular basis here thats why i prefer to refill my own bottles

the O-ring is the key to avoid leak. Check it before connecting regulator, open regulator, but not the safety valve to supply pipe, smell for leak at the floor, then open safety valve to supply pipe/hose, and smell for leak at the floor under cook top

where I come from gas bottles indoor are strictly illegal, so installing a good quality hose to outdoor gas bottle feels like a must to sleep at night. Unless kitchen floor is lowered, and gap under door for gas to escape outdoor

Gas hoses are colour coded for specific use.

LPG hoses are orange.

My bottle is stored under the cooktop which has worried me. I think I'll move it outside.

Thought I smelled gas coming from the kitchen the other day, it was just the lady slicing up a durian. :bah:

the smell to household LPG is added to warn, LPG itself is almost odourless, wonder if it actually is durian

and yep, LPG hoses are orange outside, armed rubber, black inside, and come with manufactoring date, good for 10 years

wish all samlor kitchen knew this, really dislike their garden hoses

Gas bottles must be outside in most countries

Turning the gas of at the bottle saves worrying about leaks

just bought another gas bottle and cooker for outside, stops the cooking smells in house especially fish
