Do the Makers have any say here on how a Dealership must be be run.Seems to me the Family run the Show.I have never heard of a Family losing a Franchise here from sloppy service.I have heard Thais say im not going there, its rubbish, yet its a Big Toyota, so they pop to another province for service. So, Who is The Boss.??.

I've seen reports on TV that member(s) had problems with a dealership and contacted the main headquarters and they sussed it out for them by contacting the dealership.

The topic in part was inspired by the March Battery disgrace. If i was Mr Nissan id be doing a Rustic Dance in my dealership for pissballing about with a 3 month old car.A Customer comes before a cheap battery. They should have an SQA System for dealers,in my grumpy oppinion.

Think many penny pinch or haven't a clue other than what a mechanic has been trained to do. The business owners basically haven't got a clue about cars, just the cash flow. My Toyota had a couple of silly things to fix at service, they said fixed, got home and fixed them myself

Think it's luck of the draw here. ;)

I don't wish to spark off an old pissing match debate but this kind of throws out those theories of the dealerships performing "covert factory maintenance the customer isn't privy to" (paraphrasing of course) as doing that flies in the face of their profit making and if they'll "pinch a penny" on replacing a battery that is quite obvious, it seems nonsensical to think that they'll do ANYTHING beyond the absolute minimum to warrantee maintenance to your vehicle.

It can't be both ways and this is the reasoning behind many people wishing, in deed choosing to either do their own maintenance or choosing another reputable garage to do it for them and no one is going to suffer some sort of undercover deficit in maintenance because they don't have the dealership do it, quite the opposite they'll likely get as good or better maintenance and possibly for less money.. That's just scare tactic hype to try to make a point..

Perhaps you are right but the ''secret''' recall fixes could be life threatening or mechanical failure issues that must be dealt with during the 3 year warranty period, and perhaps after. Remember the Lexus valve spring failures, no secret cos to big a job, but only a dealer ship would have been privy too and fix the issue, no outsider would have known. That's just one instance. I rely on Kata's dealing and knowledge with this stuff.

Ford told my mate to keep his 911 at home , of the Forecourt or loose the family dealership. He did so , cant see that being the case here.

My Toyota dealership (Chinese) have a special glass building on the site with their private rides in, Ferrari, Hummer, and other stuff .

Following each scheduled service, one usually recieves a phone call from BKK within 3 days asking if everything was satisfactory. So, reply to OP, maunfactorer/importer sets the service standards

Showrooms and garage have to be approved by manufactorer/importer.

body work at Toyota is according to Toyota Japans standards. Expensive to take all damaged parts off, repair, spray and install again, like assembling a new car. Most Insurancecompanies wont cover it

Most Th manufactorer have due to long ques now also introduced streamlined ordering of new cars. Ordering form with deposit paid and ID/name of buyer needed at HQ to confirm order

As for servicing at main dealer, sure on occasions they may be sloppy or inpolite, the latter Thais would describe as no good, but silent recalls are far too frequent here to not doing it every 6 months.

Yes correct liability issues for the manufacturer not the consumer, they couldn't give a rats arse about the customer just their own CYA.. Don't delude yourself into thinking any safety issue corrections being in the best interest of the consumer or else they'd make it public and allow any first rate mechanics to deal with it as well as putting the public first..One more notable reason not to trust either dealers or manufacturers IMO..

Cockpit use stick on balancing weights on the inside so unseen and they clean up the wheels take stones out the tyres and do a proper job unlike the shit main dealers.

Couldn't give a monkeys if a farang don't wanta buy the car because of warranty time servicing I rather Cockpit take care of it than those main dealer wanke_rs, not interested in the lest it will still sell.:)
