Workers remind govt of Bt300 pledge

Labour groups yesterday decried the government's partial implementation of the Bt300 wage-hike policy, reminding the Pheu Thai-led administration of the party's campaign pledge to raise the minimum wage nationwide, and not just in seven provinces.

To mark Value of Work Day, some 1,000 workers marched to Government House to submit a petition asking Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to honour her promise to hike wages.

Labour leader Manas Kosol said Pheu Thai promised to boost the minimum wage to Bt300 per day nationwide immediately after assuming office. But the government subsequently modified the policy to cover just seven provinces starting on January 1, he said.

He called on Yingluck to clarify when workers nationwide would be paid Bt300 a day.

In a related development, a group of university students held a rally at Government House yesterday calling on the government to guarantee a Bt15,000 entry-level salary for graduates with a bachelor's degree.

As workers and students congregated, vehicles were restricted to one lane, causing traffic snarls around Government House in the morning.

Yingluck: Let them eat cake!!!!!

It's promising that Yingluck joined the rally in the OP's photo, but I'm concerned about her misuse of growth hormones.

You forgot her use of speach bubbles to get her message across.

It looks like a life-size (or a little larger) doll of Yingluck... or is it a cardboard cut-out? In any case, it's probably not much different from the real thing.

The only things missing from the Yingluck cut out are the puppeteers strings.

Have they finally awoken the dragon that will undo them?

Don't they realise the government has other priorities? There is a wedding in December that someone needs to attend.

The sad thing is believe the goverment is going to use the cost of the floods etc as an excuse to renege on all their election promises, in some respects the flooding has done them a favour from a political stand point..... :(

We WAS going to give you all what was promised-----but now we can't because of THE FLOODS.:cheesy::hit-the-fan:

Ok so that's the wage hike rally. Now we wait for rallies for all the other broken promises. Then the big one when all these people get together for one big F/O rally. Perhaps they could wear Pink shirts?

Obviously Yingluck followed the Obama Campaign strategy.... say anything to get elected then hope the minions have a short memory.....unsure.gifunsure.gif

Sure, they will attempt this, but promises like this are expected to be met. After all, they spouted "elect us and we will give all workers 300 baht immediately upon taking office" - they reneged on this "lie" as soon as they set foot into Government house and the floods excuse "will not hold water" no pun intended as these are desparate times for a lot of people (Yingluck especially)!!!!

Looks like somebody woke up.

What you say may be true but it most certainly doesn't make it right. It's time to put an end to all this political lying. They made a promise (contract), they then withdraw it (breach of contract)...sue them and kick them out of office

What amazes me is that they actually believed her election promises, theres millions born in Thailand every minute :)
