Hi Guys,

I've just registered in this forum but I've been reading a lot of other topics and really like community here. Very helpful straight-to-point and smart guys.

My native language is not English but Russian. I'm Russian myself but live in Lithuania (EU) therefore I have Lithuanian Passport.

Ok. Straight to the point.

Situation:

I am about to marry a Thai Lady in Thailand she is also pregnant and

waiting for a baby in beginning of January. She lives and waits for me

in Thailand now.

Before the birth I will marry her and after the birth I want to take

the baby and her to Lithuania to stay there permenantly. So I'm

considering to stay in Thailand until March 2012.

She has thai passport and I have Lithuanian (EU) passport. Until 23

October I'm staying in Lithuania and on 23rd I'm flying to Bangkok.

The current situation is that there is no Lithuanian Embassy in

Thailand therefore I will have to deal with and make all documents

through the embassy in China.

I'm not working in Thailand nor I have visa now.

Please advice:

- what type of visa should I apply for in my situation?

- what documents should I prepare to apply for visa?

- what is the best way for me to stay in Thailand until March?

- what documents should I prepare to marry?

- what is the procedure of marriage in Thailand and

legalizing/synchronizing documents with Lithuanian Republic? So that

the marriage is valid in both countries?

- what is the procedure of registering a baby in Thailand and making

sure that these documents are valid in Lithuania?

- how can I take the baby and my wife to Lithuania? What documents do

I need/they need and how do I apply for the visa or other document

that will allow them to go with my to stay in Lithuania permanently?

Please could you describe the process step by step so I know for sure

what documents to prepare and how to apply for all those

permissions/visas/documents.

Thing I already know:

- I need my birth certificate, marital status note, occupation note to register the marriage in Thailand.

- I need all documents to be legalized from both my Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thai Consulate (located in Lithuania)

If you where doing the same what documents did you need? What procedures did you have to complete? How long did it take?

Every bit of information will help me to avoid extra cost and extra headache.

To get marreid you need a letter from your embassy confirming you are allowed to marry. Together with your passport and future wife and her ID, that is all you need to get married. Your embassy can tell you wich docuemtns you need to provide in order to get this letter.Once you have the letter, you have it translated into Thai and than certified by the Thai Foreign Ministry. Together with your passport and future wife and her ID card that is all you will need. (Unless you have been married before, than you will also need to submit your divorce papers). You can get married at any amphur in Thailand.Once you are married you can have the documents legalised by your embassy. They can tell you how to do that.Once the baby is born, you register the birth at the local amphur. You will need to prepare your name and the childs name in Thai, as the Thai birth certificate is in Thai. (Your name will also be in Thai on the wedding registration). After that you can register the birth with your embassy, they can inform you of the procedure. The child will have Thai nationality because of the mother and probably Lithuanian nationality bacause of you. So it might be able to get both passports. Thai law allows dual nationality, I'm don't know about Lithuanian law. Your child will not need a visa as a Lithuanin national, I don't know about the rules for your wife.

You can try to get a double entry tourist visa from the Thai consulate. Once you are married or the child is born or you have the birth certificate naming you as the father, you can get a 60 day extension of stay from immigration n Thailand for 1,900 baht. This should see you through the period you will need.

Wow. Thanks for the info. Very nice and useful.

I'm going to write my experience here with all the details.

Now:

I've finished legalizing:

- Marital note

- Note from my work saying how much I earn and when I've started to work.

- My birth certificate (however they could not legalize it in Consulate of Thailand in Lithuania as it is a Belarus birth certificate. I did legalize it from the Belarus side however)

I've made myself a double entry (60days x 2) Tourist Visa.

As soon as I start with the registration of marriage and other documents I will post all the details here.

But for now I'll be trying to get myself to Phitsanulok. With the situation in Bangkok and all over the Thailand it's going to be hard to get there.

Dear Stanislav,

it's so interesting what you have done so far. Let me guess you did not get married yet, because you have to do some paper work by yourself as well and it is not so easy as it looks like. I know it, because I've got some experience regarding that. I'm in Thailand at the moment since November, so if you are interested we can have a chat. I'm Lithuanian as well and had same problems. It took me a while to find out everything about marriage in Thailand. My email address or tel:+66811573550

Na kadangi, kaip minejai esi is Lietuvos, galima bendrauti lietuviskai arba rusiskai jokiu problemu:)
