October 15, 201114 yr I know the answer may be here some where but no luck searching , so I would like to buy an Android App , what's the best way for some one in Thailand to do this ? , Thanks :jap:
October 15, 201114 yr There are several ways to go about this: 1) You can go to the Android "Market" on any Android device and purchase and download apps. However, to do this, you have to first set up a Google Check-out account linked to a valid credit card. After you do this, the cost of paid apps will be automatically charged to the credit card. This payment facility (Google Check-out) used to no work in Thailand (you could only download free apps) but about 6 months ago or so, it started to work. If coming to the Market from a Thai based Mobile or WiFi network, the prices will be shown in BAHT. 2) If you have an Amazon account, you can purchase Android Apps from their Android Marketplace at their website (or you can download their free app from the Market and purchase paid apps from there). Once you buy Amazon Android apps, they will download to your device. [There is a slight security setting change you need to make to your Android device to accept and download apps from the Amazon Marketplace. There are instructions for this on the Amazon website.]
October 15, 201114 yr and if you do not have a credit card then apply for the Kbank virtual web card... its a debit card that works for buying on the net. http://www.kasikornbank.com/en/ServicesChannel/SearchServiceChannel/Internet/Pages/RegisteronATM.aspx
October 15, 201114 yr Post removed that has link to file sharing site which supports pirated software. 17) Not to post links to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, eBay listings and requests for donations. Discussion of file-sharing of pirated material is prohibited, however file sharing for legal purposes is allowed.
October 15, 201114 yr I bought an Andoid App that wasn't available when online in Thailand. The vendor said I should insert a SIM from a country where payment online is available (google check out?) so I used my UK SIM. Then I was able to purchase online while in Thailand. Although the connection and download was done by wifi and NOT via dialup, the android paid App setup architecture apparently does access the devices SIM card to verify if the App can be legally sold in that market. It saw a UK SIM (US, German, Australian, Singaporean were all suggested by the vendor), and online purchasing worked. Stuck my AIS SIM back in the phone and no worries.
October 15, 201114 yr Author Thanks Guy's for the advice and All the links , ive just tried to sign up for Google Check-out and the form filling web page page is all in Thai, there seems no way to get an English version if you are in Thailand, and I really don't want to ask any one to translate my details etc. it seems a common problem .. See Here a dissapointment as I wanted to sign up with Google Check-out

October 15, 201114 yr I wasn't aware of that it was such a problem getting Android applications. Nokia OVI store deducts the cost of applications from your phone credit.
October 15, 201114 yr I would sign in to gmail first, then go to Google Checkout. It worked fine for me; I got an English language sign-up screen. Note that my gmail account originated in the U.S.
October 15, 201114 yr Author to the OP try a different browser. Hi thanks for the comment, just tried it on Two other different browsers. this is iCab Browser ... and this below is Safari Not too sure what to try next
October 15, 201114 yr Not sure what to recommend? Here's what it looks like for me if NOT SIGNED IN to any Google apps. Maybe clear all browser caches, log out of any Google apps (gmail, youtube, etc.), go to gmail, sign in, search the web (box), enter Google Checkout, search the web, click on sign up. You can also Paypal the developer for the app. and side-load the apk.

October 15, 201114 yr Can you change the language in the pull-down box? It's currently on Thai for you. Contact the developer, or visit their website (not the Android Market) to see if you can purchase the apk directly via Paypal? Are you using a MAC? Maybe it's some sort of "protection"?

Thanks, I changed the language drop down to United Kingdom, but the language on screen did not change ... The thought of having to separately contact each app developer is a pain in the backside
October 15, 201114 yr i only download freebies but would not a UK proxy server get round this. they are legal and have free trail versions
October 16, 201114 yr Or, when doing a first purchase it, register via android. I have not once logged on to google checkout to register anything. All done via my SG2. And yes, kasikorn internet card works great via the market.
October 16, 201114 yr I can't replicate this problem across three PCs and both IE and Chrome. Each time, even when not logged in to any Google app., I get directed to an English-language sign-up page. I suspect it is a browser/settings issue. Maybe try Chrome, and then Google Translate as a last resort.
