Our Filipino consultant came in on a single-entry Non-B. The Thai client company is handling the procedures to allow this to be 'converted' to a multiple entry to best fit the work/time-off scenario. They are also getting the WP sorted out as well.

First question: Does this mean that he needs to wait until 90-days are up and he is on an extension of stay before he can qualify and apply for a re-entry permit?

Second: Since there's a holiday on Monday, he was wondering if there is a way of being able to go home on Friday and coming back on Monday night and stay legal with regard to his visa and the WP application in process.

Thanks in advance!

PS. Just to add that the client company does have a very competent government relations department that handles the visa support and WP applications so this is just seeking some advice on what they are capable of doing.

He can use single re-entry permits anytime to travel but should wait for extension of stay to obtain the multi entry (unless planning very frequent trips) as the expiration date of a re-entry will always be the same as the current permitted to stay until stamp.

Thanks for that. He has been told by the assistant in the company's government affairs office that if he leaves for home, his only option is to apply for another single entry Non-B to allow him to come back. They didn't state that he qualifies for a single re-entry. Is there a link to the mfa or other government website that says that he can? The manager of the department is out of the office and I think he is getting fobbed off by a subordinate that doesn't have a clue.

If indeed there's been no rule changes and he does qualify for a single re-entry, what paperwork does he need to produce for that and where does he apply? The office and place of work is in Bangkok. Cost and how long it takes would be handy to know as he only has today and tomorrow to get anything done.

He can apply for a single re-entry permit at the BKK - immigraiton office, Cheang Wattana road. He will need to pay a fee of 1,000 baht and submit an application form and passport photo.

On Saturdays this service is also provided at the old office at Suan Plu, counter 6 between 8:30 and 12:00 only!

When he returns to Thailand he must fill in the number of his re-entry permit where it asks about his visa and check they stamp him in correctly till the date he is currently allowed to stay before leaving immigraiton. (Mistakes do happen).

Good news!

If he heads to Chaeng Wattana after lunch today with a TM.8, passport picture and money, will they issue same day? We are only about 15-20 minutes from there. He can probably flee the (flooding) coop tonight!

Yes should be issued shortly after application I suspect. If all else fails there is a counter at airport 0600-2400 that might be available but best not to chance it.
