Report Thailand Ranked 7th Happiest Country in New Global Survey
There are only 30 countries in the "Global" survey instead of the normally around 170 countries in Global surveys... Link to the Ipsos Happiness Index 2025: https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2025-03/Ipsos-Global-Happiness-Index-2025_1.pdf In Gallup's World Happiness Report Thailand ranks #49... Findland is #1, Denmark is #2, and Iceland is #3... ...and #6 here is Costa Rica. Link to Gallup World Happiness Report: https://data.worldhappiness.report/table -

The Left versus Right False Dichotomy, and "The tyranny of contrived opposites"
It's completely stupid. People become delusional and become like religious zealots. Once they are fixated that their team is better than the other team, they are not able to see anything objectively anymore. -

Australians - the most informal people on earth?
That's right, I wasn't mentioning Speedos. However, I was referring to the swimwear worn by the voters when I mentioned Aussie's "laid-backness". So, as you can see, I was neither "rubbishing" Australians nor mentioning Trump. I hope that clarifies things for you, buddy. -

Trump wants his own parade - literally
The fireworks would have been sourced pre-tariffs, or at least orders placed. I assume the supply contracts from the US government would have included force majeure covering tariffs. Smaller 4th July events in 2025 are likely to be impacted by increased costs, or even shortages. Larger, public, events less so. Typically, orders for fireworks for retailers major events, are placed 12 months before. At the moment the US 250th Birthday in 2026 may well be impacted, and some events may have to switch to alternative displays. https://www.americanpyro.com/assets/2025/2025Advisories/APA - NFA April 2025 Letter Post Tariff 4.3.25.pdf https://news.wgcu.org/culture-and-connections/2025-04-14/fireworks-for-2025-likely-wont-fizzle-from-145-percent-tariff-on-china-but-wait-until-next-year -

Where can I switch my passports the fastest? (Dual Citizenship)
Strikes me that the best course of action in your case would be to do a border run, exiting on your Caribbean passport and then re-entering visa-exempt on your European one, which you could then convert to a non-O visa at your local immigration office before then resuming annual retirement extensions. How you go about seeking a non-O conversion for retirement is set out in the following link: https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf This is how a number of retirees went about dumping their original non-OA visas for replacement non-O visas in order to avoid the mandatory health insurance requirement, so it is a path reasonably well-trodden in fairly recent times. Incidentally, would I be correct in inferring from your username that your local immigration office is Rayong? -

Is it worth it at 78 ? - Implant replacement teeth
Note: My Guess at 800,000 baht above - is based on someone I know who's recently gone through the process... ... Replacing his 'whole mouth' (of staind, chipped and damaged teeth, some infected etc)... and having implants... he now has a great smile, but is still has a wrinkly old face !!!
