Youtuber "Sabbatical" detained in Russia, barely escapes with his life
I've seen a few of Sabbatical's travel videos. They're pretty good. They're not political at all. Mostly, a guy that shows up in a new place and wants an adventure. He travels all over the world. I don't know what happened in Russia, but if he's out of there, that's that. Usually, the Russian YouTube travel videos are interesting. I follow a few Russian girls. All things considered, Russia looks like a nice place. -

They got me! Youtube finally annoyed me enough to pay for Premium.
I started paying last year sometime when they increased the ads, total waste of my time, especially when I'm just listening to some music or something where there's multiple videos. I do wonder though, does the content producer get paid only on ad views or the number of plays? Because if it's purely on ad views then they're directly competing against their own creators which seems counterintuitive. -

Applying for a DTV (soft power) with Thai language classes possible?
I have a (muay thai) DTV appointment at Savannakhet coming up shortly. I have had good experiences with marriage non-o visas there in the past without the 500 ppl long queues mentioned in the reviews online. I also heard a report of a DTV refusal there today but it is not my place to elaborate on that persons behalf. Regardless of everything it is going to be a long, boring and expensive pain in the butt trip. I will update my experience in the main DTV thread here whether good or bad. -

There isn't any Taiwan question. War over Taiwan would mean the collapse of the global semiconductor industry and, in turn, the collapse of the global economy. It's never gonna happen. (let's not forget that both the US and China have nuclear weapons)
