Thaiflood separated itself from FROC

BANGKOK, 23 October 2011 (NNT)-The founder of the Thaiflood website, Pramet Minsiri, yesterday announced the separation of the site from the government run Flood Relief Operation Center, citing the conflict in their stances.

The website, an organized effort by the civic sector, had stood side by side with the center since the beginning of the crisis. However, Mr. Pramet claimed that the two entities had developed several conflicts involving information and cooperation to the point that they could no longer work together.

He strongly criticized the center’s works, citing that it needed to be well organized and ignore political influences in order to be able to achieve its ultimate objective of preventing flood or inform the public of it as soon as possible.

The Thaiflood website founder gave an example of such works, saying that the evacuation plan need to have more details, such as evacuation destination, adding that without one, announcing an evacuation would only cause panic.

Mr. Pramet explained that the decision came after he received a call from a government official ‘asking’ him to send the information to the FROC before releasing it to the public. Thailflood refused to comply with the demand as previously the information took too long to reach the public to be useful.

How long before the MICT block access to that site?

when they start to tell the truth

Kao Sod newspaper is now claiming that the democrats are the ones playing political games. San Saep canal has still not been opened to take water through the east of Bangkok.

How many days have the government been requesting its opening?

The claim is that the BMA and the democrats have been trying to provoke confrontation between the government and the army. The governor seems to be spending more and more time at the kings hospital.

There's bound to be flooding on the Chao Praya river but what is happening in Rangsit, Wattana etc has to be drained asap. We have a big Klong near us coming off Petchaburi and it leads into the river.

The water is stagnant. It should be flowing.

GET OUT OF YOUR HOMES AND EVACUATE NOW!!!!

But we won't tell you where is safe to go or for how long it might be safe.

We won't tell you where to find food and water, only that food and water is being provided.

We won't tell you when you might come back.

We WILL get angry with websites trying to tell you this info.

Mai bpen rai, carry on.

Don't forget to compare the claims against the list of news papers cought receiving money to write well about PT during the election.

A 'fun' news was doing its round on Thai websites how one newspaper was showing a large group of boats with yellow flags helping people to get out of the flooded areas in Auyuttaya...whiloe another newspaper showed the exact same (bought) photo, but all the boats flags was re-colored as red.

The implications is huge.

Thailand is disappearing faster than the Titanic and the rescue operations are just as disorganised.

But they found the Titanic again....jap.gif

And the band could still play?

But it took them what 70 to 80 years to find the Titanic

and Hollywood profited 600 million dollars as a result of it.

It;a cIear now there are going to be serious problems with the supply chain of food and other essential items, clearly the deliveries of food to supermarkets is severely disrupted ,I have moved up north to Khon kaen and TOPs have empty shelves of many food items and Makro have signs apologizing for some items not being available, and this may only the beginning if Bangkok and the Distribution centres have no products coming in and struggling to get them out to all parts of the country.

In Bkk I have just ordered some drinking water from Ubon. Can't find any around here and don't have a car any more to go out looking as it is parked somewhere safe.

There's no point going looking. There's none left anywhere. Best you can do is find a water machine somewhere.

I am in Sisaket, I have only been to 7-11 the last couple of days but the shelves are emptying there I think shortage of basics supplies will hit most the country in a couple of weeks. We are running several businesses and we are stocking up on what we need for the long term.

TOPS on SamSen between Sukhothai and NakhonChaisri had some late this afternoon. Mind you it did start to look mighty empty, with mostly only the more expensive brands of anything left, or things more aimed at farang. Boil water and put some lemonade/syrup for taste, don't make it too sweet though.

Don't worry, says Yingluck (Thai PM warns deadly floods to last weeks more):

"The government will oversee the distribution of all consumer goods and ensure that they are sufficient and available for everyone."

don't stockpile goods," Yingluck said.
