.. spend some time planning how you would cope in an emergency - either storing water or learning various techniques for purifying water. Learn about colloidal silver, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, solar distillation, rain water harvesting, charcoal filters, and so on.

I'd recommend buying a bottle of non-scented household bleach as a cheap and reliable backup to your water purification system. Do some research online for more information. Also consider pool care supplies as a cheap source of chlorine.

Special mention for one of the most amazing plants on our good Earth, a super nutritious Miracle Tree, whose seeds can uniquely act as both a disinfectant and a coagulant. That tree is Moringa oleifera.

Ole!

It seems that the flood related shortages here are far from over, in fact they are getting worse. The last time (about 3 weeks ago) I went to Tesco they had lots of the 1.5 liter bottles of local water limited to two six packs per customer though and no 6 liter bottles.

We went yesterday to do our monthly shopping as we always do with a long list of items including food, water, and other household products that we buy there every month. We ended up coming home with only about half the items on the list as the store was out of stock on the rest including now no water at all except for expensive (more than beer by volume) imported waters like Evian. Not even any Thai beer in bottles, though they did have cases of Chang in cans. Paper goods in stock were only the Tesco brand instead of the choices that they used to have and many items from food to cleaning products were simply not available.

What does Basilfox have against people that enjoy a beer on occasion? often making criticising comments.

Anyway this thread seems to have lost its way. There seems to be sufficient water supplies in HH now.

Maybe he's opposed to beer.

One more item to add to your list of survival/emergency supplies - CASH.

HSBC was today hit by a nationwide WORLDWIDE systems crash thought to have affected millions of customers. The bank's cash machines, branches, debit cards, and internet banking services all stopped working at 2.45pm after a computer glitch. The outage lasted more than two hours, with frantic HSBC staff finally finding a fix at 4.50pm.

Folks, these kind of disruptions are only going to get more and more common. Please take a few moments while sipping your cold beers to plan for emergencies.

Please let us know when it will get worse, we have waited some months now, or will you admitt to scare mongering at best or lieing at worst.
