The Democrats have now admitted that former PM Abhisit flew off to the Maldives, throwing in the lie that it was a 'diplomatic visit' despite no record of it from official Maldive sources.

Badly timed, perhaps, but I'm sure you and I would both like to be able to evacuate to somewhere like the Maldives. But lets be honest he is FORMER PM, so the onus is no longer on him personally to fix the problem and as Taksin has demonstrated beautifully it is easy to orchestrate the 'pawns' from abroad. But nevertheless a show of solidarity with ordinary people would have been benificial in a crisis such as this.

There is no reason he should not have taken a break at that time.

He should have stayed as he is the leader of the opposition, it would have looked good for him and his party if he had of stayed during the crisis, not in another country playing golf while his people the Thai people suffered in a National crisis.Healso stated he would help if asked. Please share why you claim that the dems never tell the truth (and at the same time perhaps you'd like to comment on the level of truth spoken by the paymaster, jatuporn, noppadon, just for starters)?.

Perhaps you'd also like to comment on the appointments made by the paymaster in regard to the ministerial positions and please share your comments about their capability for these positions, and please also share what high value they have all contributed to the flood crisis, and also share some details of why none of them have shown their faces, or made any visible contribution in terms of strategy or actions?

And chalerm, a senior deputy prime minister, has been totally quiet during the flood crisis. I throw your own comment back to you, why has he not been visibly active and adding something valuable pretty much every day?

And perhaps you'd like to share some information about the delivery date for the big pumps that the paymaster supposedly ordered from South Korea.

Answer...The buck stops here. You get elected, you step up to the plate! Yingluck may not have been fortunate enough to have had an effective resource system in place along with an effective crisis management plan, but as PM she is being judged on the Leadership she displays, and so far that has been very weak and ineffectual.

Yes, something that couldn't be fixed in 30 years (including 6 of various incarnations of the current government) was going to be fixed in 2 years of the previous government.

The previous government is also at fault for announcements made by FROC and letting donated items getting damaged by floods.

I believe it was just a week or so ago that Jatuporn went really really really really far away, about 8 hours from BKK (by bus), ... just a little day-trip to Udon Thani, and there was a small revolt here on the forum about him not being in BKK 24 hours a day helping with the flood relief.

K. Abhisit should maybe have stayed in BKK to help boost moral and be seen next to PM Yingluck to suggest support of her, her government and FROC's activities. Maybe.

Which reminds me, where's Dept. PM Chalerm? Trying to keep his residence in Thonburi from flooding? He's been very vocal a while back, like "I will bring back k. Thaksin", special workgroup on LM, Computer crime and Internet censorship. Knowing he doesn't know anything about water management, flood prevention, he modestly stepped out of the limelight for a moment? Almost unbelievable for a politician of his caliber

There's usually a reason, Rubl, when a high profile Government Person suddenly dissapears in a national crisisand it's usually not down to misjudgement (unless you happen to be head of the opposition it seems) and lo and behold there is one................................

For sure the current government can not be blamed for the floods. If the problem still exists next year, then yes blame them. Before they can really do anything, effectively they need to rid themselves of corruption ( ) Then form a working plan. For upcountry things such as storm drains, running into rivers, dredge and clear the rivers, also build drains to run off from the land. Perhaps they could be designed so that in times of drought they could be used in reverse? For towns and city's build larger drains, or at least clear the drains they already have, then maintain them properly, by inspecting them on an annual basis. Also Thailand is renowned for flooding that is the reason they built houses on?

At times such as this, I have to think of what my ex girlfriend used to say to me 4yrs ago. When I said that I was fed up with living in the village in Korat and I said that I wanted to be by the coast. She would say stick around soon Korat will be the coast, Bangkok will be under water. Me thinks she might have something there.

I have heard that he is busy investigating the killing of those Chinese on the Mekong.

Maybe he's trying to figure out what went wrong with that deal.

Chalerm was just made head of a Traffic and Security committee yesterday.

I suspect that is because this is getting worse and traffic will turn into a security threat very fast if another 3-4 million become refugees from their own homes.

Or it's just making him 'look' like he wasn't inactive and doing nothing.
