Bankok To Ranong

Featured Replies

I'm considering taking to night train to Chumphon then a mini bus to Ranong, this being said would it be more economical (but less comfortable) to take the 2nd class bus and arrive directly?

What would be your choice of transport?

I'll be going to Phayam or Ko Chang from there, so I know I should take Ferry times into account

Thanks

Cheapest would be to take the bus all the way to Ranong.

(A long ride.)

My choice would be to probably spend one night in Hua Hin or in Prachuap

on the way, possibly also a night in Chumphon.

(Umpteen hours on a bus is not very comfortable.)

As for ferries;

Now in late October I expect that they're into high season schedule,

means ferry in the morning and in the afternoon aswell as a number

of speedboats during the day.

Apparently it's about 9 hrs in the bus, the point of the night bus would be to save on the cost of a room,... but I still have to get to the southern bus terminal Sai Tai Mai, apparently I can take the #511 bus there, but I don't know from which skytrain station I can catch it from? The train station of course is quite easy to get to.

I may want to stop at Bang Saphan Yai on the way back to BK, but not at first!

I doubt an ordinary bus would do BKK-Ranong in 9 hours, you probably look at the timetable?

Some time ago I did see some directions and advice here on TV.com on how to get from the airport to the southern

bus terminal. If you look/search a bit maybe you find it.

I won't be going there from the airport, as I'll already be in BK. Even if it's a little longer, no big deal, as long I can catch the 9am boat, not the speed boat.

I would get the bus if I were you. It wold save messing about in Chumphon.

Be warned - The road from Chumphon to Ranong is no fun for anyone who suffers from motion sickness even slightly.....
