Hey guys

Ill start by saying my visa finishes next month. It is non imm o from Hull and it will be its 15th month. Previous to this current I also had a non imm o for 15th months.

Previous to these two in Ive had a non imm b from KL and 2 double entry tourist visa's from Laos. However on both visa's the double entries weren't used, only one entry on both.

I really need to think about what to do next. I really wanna stay as at last things are falling into place but I just cant afford and ED visa at the moment. Have I used Laos too much, will I get another double entry there?

Hull seems to have closed it doors but Ive heard Birmingham is a good bet however sounds a bit dodgy sending my passport back from an neighbouring country.

Any ideas guys, Im really really stuck.

Sending the passport is illegal.

You havnt stated the reason for getting the Non-O previously ? visiting friends etc no longer applies.

It would seem that an ED visa (4 hours per week), get married, or try for a tourist visa in a neighboring country are your options.

"Sending the passport is illegal"

That's not at all illegal, as long as one doesn't do so from Thailand while staying here and seeking a new Thai visa. Quite proper to do so from a neighboring country, or even while still in Thailand if, for example, seeking a visa for a third country that does not have representation in Bangkok.

Hull is NOT closed...and you can get a non o multi entry visa there but ONLY if you can meet their requirements.

You would need (using the visiting friends or relatives justification)

1. The name, address, and relationship of the person you will be living with. Preferably this will be a Thai person, but they may accept a foriegner legally living long term in Thailand IF you can document the relationship (i.e. with a birth certificate), that will be a point in your favor. (I know of one person whose father is here on a retirement extension... and his grown son is here also as a dependent).

2. If you're sponsor is a Thai person you should have

a. A marriage certificate AND

b. A signed letter from that requesting you be issued a non o visa to visit them. Include name, address, trelephone number in Thailand in that letter. It must be signed by that person who sponsor you.

c. A photocopy of BOTH sides of their Thai I.D. card. Both copies must be signed by that person.

If not married both b and c will be required as a minimum.

In short it is still possible to get a "visiting friends and relatives in Thailand" non o visa in Hull but only if you can verify it. It is difficult, because they won't simply accept your word any longer...valid proof is required.

And you have to understand...they have and have always had the right to refuse that visa to anyone they think can't present the documents they want.

I assume you may not be able to meet their requirements...but I just want to let you and everyone else know that Hull will still issue that visa...but they will want the applicant to verify that claim. And they will check...even if it takes a phone call to Thailand.

Visiting friends is no longer an option at Hull. If you want a visa for visiting relatives you must show family relationship.

Right Mario...that's what I was trying to say in my usual bumbeling way.

Ok thanks guys.

Well flying back to the Uk and visiting Hull isnt something I really want to do at the moment. How about another double from Laos, are they still issuing them? If not Laos how is Cambodia fixed for them?

Hve I just got too many?

have you any red warning stamps in your passport yet ? if not i would have thought you can get another tourist visa in laos ?

you may have to show a flight out of thailand thou sometime in the future so maybe book a cheap flight to KL or something for 5 months time.

one problem maybe is they want to see a return flight to your home country ?

they also may want to see a recent bank statement showing you have some money.

if your 15 months is up i think you can extend another 30 days ?

The only extension would be a 7 day under review unless valid reasons such as wife/child were shown.

Bummer. The ED visa does look like best option but its bloody expensive.

Should I perhaps just go for a double at Laos first then if that fails go for the ED? Im sure Ill at least get a single at Laos...? By the way do they still give doubles??
