Pattaya’S Vanishing Beaches

Pattaya’s vanishing beaches

PATTAYA:-- Some people in Pattaya and elsewhere have recently suggested the best way to replace sand washed away from Pattaya’s beaches is to add more sand to them.

Simple solution, isn’t it?

Well, not quite.

Over the past year I have closely observed the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien, and seen things which tell me dumping more sand on our beaches is definitely NOT the answer, as it simply gets washed away, which seems obvious when you think about it.

Give credit where it’s due, within weeks the city were quick to fill in this valley with more sand, using heavy earth-moving equipment, and after that exercise the same area looked like this:

Beaches come and go based on the interaction of climatic, geologic, and human factors and there is not much one can do about it when the sand from one starts to wash away in one place and starts to wash up in another

The gangs that exploit/control the beach will make sure the sand erosion is fixed....with money from city hall of course.

One would suspect once the floods are finished in BKK there will be plenty of sand and the associated bags for sale....

These could used used to replace Pattaya's white pristine sand...:whistling:
