Can The Austrian Consulate Help

I don't know if this is true but I was telling a Dutchman the other day that The British Consulate in Pattaya is struggling, due to lack of staff and will only be opening on Thursdays from 9.30am until 12.30 noon. I said I was worried that they would not be able to give me a letter, confirming that I had sufficient pension funds, to satisfy the immigration office in Jomptien. The Dutchman said he got his confirnation letter from The Austrian Embassy in South Pattaya and suggested we British do the same. Does anyone know if this is possible. I really don't want a journey to Bangkok.

Unnecessary as far from struggling they can give you a letter the same day.
