Driving In Thailand

As most people have cameras on their phones these days I thought I'd start a thread showing the craziness on the roads in Bangkok and elsewhere.

So get you mobile ready and when you see something mad on the roads snap away and post it here.

Took this one this morning, ###### thing nearly toppled over.

One can only wonder how this truck got here.

This very question always springs in mind when I see an accident in Thailand....how did they ever manage to get the vehicle in this position into the ditch....

It's the quality of the driving schools which does this... :D:o

What driving school ? an extra 1500 baht and you have your license :D

No piccie with this one I'm afraid :o

A couple of months back I trundling along minding my own business out round the back of Pathum, not sure exactly where but there's a long straight stretch of 2 lane road.

In the distance I see a truck coming the other way. To the left of the truck on my side of the road I see a vague shape.

Truck approaches, as does the shape, still on my side of the road.

Time to slow down and pull to the left.

Just in time, as the truck passed me it's still being overtaken by a chap driving one of the two wheeled rotovator things with a little trailer on which he was standing. They must have been doing 50ks.

Looking in the mirror I saw him cut in, in front of the truck. Amazingly no collision.

On a similar subject, there's a young girl passes our place regularly with one of the rotovators, she has no trailer, she uses a SKATEBOARD. Gotta get a piccy.

Crossy,

What is a rotovator? I have probably seen one but I can't relate the name to the thing. Is it one of those things that farmers use to drill holes in the earth?

Come on gents! Surely this is Thai bashing. I have been told on numerous driving related threads that Thais are good drivers and the roads are safe. It’s a cultural thing. The Thai driving system and roads are as valid as any. Surely you got these images from another country; UK maybe. :o
