terdsak_12 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 As most people have cameras on their phones these days I thought I'd start a thread showing the craziness on the roads in Bangkok and elsewhere. So get you mobile ready and when you see something mad on the roads snap away and post it here. Took this one this morning, ###### thing nearly toppled over.

raro Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 it happened recently to a friend of mine: Just literally splitseconds after overtaking a truck loaded with logs at 100+ on a highway, the logs fell sideways off the truck.
Crossy Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 One can only wonder how this truck got here. The chaps are looking at the woefully inadequate tow truck that turned up to perform a rescue. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
raro Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 One can only wonder how this truck got here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This very question always springs in mind when I see an accident in Thailand....how did they ever manage to get the vehicle in this position into the ditch....

Galong Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please let us know the story behind this mildly overloaded truck. Where was it? How many of these rocket scientists got smushed?
andyfletch Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I call this one a Pig-up..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or maybe a piggy-back
taxexile Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 So get you mobile ready and when you see something mad on the roads snap away and post it here. i saw a driver using his mobile to take a picture whilst driving , madness really , the smash was spectacular but the results were too gory to post here.

Crossy Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 No piccie with this one I'm afraid A couple of months back I trundling along minding my own business out round the back of Pathum, not sure exactly where but there's a long straight stretch of 2 lane road. In the distance I see a truck coming the other way. To the left of the truck on my side of the road I see a vague shape. Truck approaches, as does the shape, still on my side of the road. Time to slow down and pull to the left. Just in time, as the truck passed me it's still being overtaken by a chap driving one of the two wheeled rotovator things with a little trailer on which he was standing. They must have been doing 50ks. Looking in the mirror I saw him cut in, in front of the truck. Amazingly no collision. On a similar subject, there's a young girl passes our place regularly with one of the rotovators, she has no trailer, she uses a SKATEBOARD. Gotta get a piccy. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Is it one of those things that farmers use to drill holes in the earth?
Crossy Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 You have certainly seen them, sometimes called iron buffalo they are the universal farm power source. This one has a big trailer, the one that nearly hit me had a plank with two small wheels. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
taxexile Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 this was taken a couple of years ago somewhere in the north east. there were also another 5 or 6 in the front !!
corkscrew Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 These guys were pretty drunk when their truck made the turn. The chap on the right had been dragging his foot for a couple of kilometers.
terdsak_12 Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Someone sent me this the other day: Not bad!!!!
VTR1000 Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Someone sent me this the other day: Not bad!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^^^^^ Ha ha, taken in Samui by the looks of it. I had a prickess pull right out in front of me there and it cost me over 2 months off work. Definately one place where they could do with extra road tuition.
richb2004 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Come on gents! Surely this is Thai bashing. I have been told on numerous driving related threads that Thais are good drivers and the roads are safe. It’s a cultural thing. The Thai driving system and roads are as valid as any. Surely you got these images from another country; UK maybe.
corkscrew Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Here's another one for the road. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sigh...I confess...the lorry was from a London ring road. A delivery of Downing Street documents to M-6. A very clever disguise, I guess.
