I have been living up north in Sa Kaew for 4 months now. Never been a fan of hunting or bloodsports of any kind (not in a moralistic way, they just hold no attraction for me). Back in the UK I used to love taking my Crossman air rifle out in to the peaks and firing off a few rounds for target practice.

I've enough land out here to do this privately but the only equipment I can get hold of seems to be Airsoft (fun but not accurate or powerful enough for my liking) or the odd unbranded air gun here and there on the market (all seem very pricey for a brand I've never heard of).

I'm a huge fan of the pump up air rifle/pistol and the Crossman was perfect - 650 fps incredibly accurate, I very much doubt that importing one would be safe/legal over here. Has anyone seen this brand or something similar on their travels in Sa Kaew or Bangkok?

If you liked your Crosman 760 at 650 FPS, you'd love some of the off-brand and Chinese made airguns that put out 1100-1300 FPS. I'm not sure what is available here. If you do find something, post back. I love murdering cans, though I have no desire to shoot living things. In Texas that usually meant a .22 for an afternoon of cheap shooting, and a .223 for some expensive and loud shooting. But I did have a cheapo EBay Chinese airgun that was a lot of fun. I didn't like the break barrel action because it never seemed to latch the same so I took off the scope and shot with iron sights. Still, it was fun and high velocity.

So far, what I've seen of firearms here is they cost 3-5x what they do in the USA, though I've not actually tried to buy one. I wonder if it's the same for BB guns and air rifles?

No help for you I'm afraid however the Crossman is one of my choices given legal availability here. I have been after the Gamo Whisper VH .177 for some time but Pyramid Air explain that they cannot ship to me in LOS.

Here's a few Bangkok shops for you but I haven't checked them in almost a year and I have heard, but not confirmed, that Miky's Gun Club (6/3 Sukhumvit Soi 22) can help you buy guns if you are a member:

Certificate, Ramintra 17 (Rangsit Future Park) - 02 522 2231 or 02 973 4223

Gun & Guy Enterprises, 111/1 Charoen khrung Road, Wang Burapha Phirom, Pra Nakhon - 02 222 3118

Supsiri Supply Ltd, 94 On Nut 52 - 02 332 2460

Yamai Co Ltd, Vidhavadi 62, Rangsit, Bangkhen - 02 521 6861

A relative says they can get me licence for any firearm as I'm former military however I would have to house it at a registered gun club where the club, again by law, will hold a duplicate key for it.

Will wait until I'm living in the sticks, my mrs will get a licence for something suitable and away we go!

Good hunting and please could you keep me posted on your efforts.
