I was planning on coming up to Bangkok on Friday to submit an Australian toursit visa application for my wife (floods permitting). I've tried to contact VFS and the Australian Embassy without success. Can anyone tell me if VFS is open and accepting visa applications? I know they were shut on Frday and Monday for the governemnt declared holidays, but I haven't heard anything about the cvurrent situation. The website is only saying that there may be some dispruption to courier services to certain provinces. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'll answer my own question. I emailed VFS and they sent a standard generic reply saying they were open every week Mon-Fri, etc.

From the British Embassy.

The British Embassy is open. Embassy staff are helping with our work on the floods. We have round-the-clock cover in place. In particular, we are providing help and advice to British nationals. We are still operating our other consular services. But if you wish to visit the Embassy please call us in advance on + 66 (0) 2 305 8333 to check on the operation of our services. Further information can be found at our website (ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk), including our regularly updated Travel Advice.

Our Visa Application Centre (VFS, Regent House 2nd Floor, 183 Rajdamri Road, Lumpini, Bangkok 10330) is open as usual. Visa processing times remain within the standard processing guidelines. But we encourage visa applicants to apply in good time. If you wish to find out more information about visa services please call + 66 (0) 800 8050 or visit the VFS website at www.vfs-uk-th.com

Great information, Beano. I wish someone from the Australian Embassy would be as efficient.

Hi

My girlfriend was due to have her appointment for uk visitor visa on Friday 28th but this was canceled for obvious reasons. She was sent an email saying that she would be contacted with regards to re-schedueling appointment , but since then nothing. Have tried emailing also nothing.

Does anyone know what we can do now , as unable to book new appointment online because site says we have went out with time scales to re-scheduel.

Thanks in advance

VFS @ Regent House were open yesterday, the missus handed her application in....fingers crossed!

I reckon you have 5 options:

  1. See if the enquiry line can help +66 2-800-8050. Calls are charged at local rate;
  2. Try the "Re-schedule Appointment" option but looks like your girlfriend has tried that option but system can't re-schedule an appointment that's now in the past;
  3. Try the "Cancel Appointment" option (tho' suspect system won't let you do that cos original appointment date now gone...as with 2 above) and then "Schedule Appointment" thus in effect making a new appointment;
  4. Just try booking a new appointment "Schedule Appointment";
  5. Final option....Just turn up and wait...they open at 8:30am, though may be a long wait...

Other than that not a lot else you can really do

Best of luck

I just put in a tourist visa to Australia application for my wife at VFS. Business as usual. They indicated that there are no delays at this time.I then went to get a police clearance for myself at Thai police HQ. Business as usual there, also.

I can vouch the Australian embassy seems to be "business as usual," as we just received an email yesterday (Friday) concerning our application. Although it was generic(-ish), it more than infers someone has finished their review of our app and pumped out the required "next steps" email.

Don't knock it.... at least you get some form of updates, unlike the UK... their idea of Visa tracking is a message when you apply saying "we have it" and a message when "passport is ready for collection"..... Thats it.... Oh, and No phonecalls or contact allowed to find out the progress!

Maybe I should emigrate?
