The Govt's Flood Management under Criticism

The Rak Thailand party leader Chuwit Kamonwisit criticizes the government's failures in tackling the country's massive flood.

He also blamed the Yingluck's government for poor management earlier last week, as the government approved a five-day holiday in certain provinces to allow people prepare for possible flooding from October 27 to 31.

He said the government has not made any plans to accomodate the large number of people who would be returning to Bangkok to get back to their normal lives with the holiday ending today, November 1.

Chuwit said that many main roads in the city were forced to be closed, while the flooding is becoming more severe in many districts.

In addition, the amount of public transportation is inadequate.

He pointed out that although the military and the police officers have vehicles to facilitate transportation, the number of people still needing service outnumbers their capacity.

Many people have had to wait for the buses for over an hour.

The buses being provided by the authorities are not comfortable or convenient, as their routes are limited to the main roads.

People left stranded were forced to walk through foul stagnant water to reach their flooded houses.

He suggested that the government set up directorate centers on the many roads that are now totally obstructed by the flooding such as Rungsit Khlong Song Canal, Sapan Mai Bridge, Bangplad, Charansanitwongse, Taweewattana, Laksi, and Don Muang.

Chuwit stated that officials should establish central stations to facilitate transportation by offering people boats and buses.

He added that Bangplad District should have its center at the Krung Thon Bridge, while the flooded Don Muang District should have its transport center at Laksi Plaza.

Besides firing accusations at the Prime Minister, he also criticized the Flood Relief Operations Center, or FROC, for their ineffective management of donations.

Chuwit added that the premiere has failed to create national reconciliation during flooding due to conflicts between various political groups within the FROC.

if i was a Thai then i would vote for Chuwit. He seems like a mafia man but what u see is what u get. All other parties have constantly been accusing the other of corruption whilst prentending to be a honet individuals.

Also he is neither yellow or red so maybe he should have a chance. bring the red and yellow war to an end and let someone here who seeems to be more honest than the parties before him.

lets face it if people did not like massages then they would not be there.

there is high demand and the govement can benfit from his style of business.

I though that policians were there to give the people ( the magority) what they want.

These places all still exsist so who owns them now.

What about those casinos where 5 cheif of police were arrested. If they were never caught and one day they ran for PM then i doubt people would be taking the piss saying that an ex copper wants to run for PM.

Little would they have know about the illegal casinos that they have to finance their campains

Chuwit

Let's face it - a paragon of virtue, he is not.

But even though he operates under a bridge, at least he seems more sincere than the pimps conducting their business in open on either side of the political main street.

As in the tsunami disaster in Japan, the prime minister ought to resign to take responsibility for poor management during the flood crises.

I guess it is not any skin off the government back when giveworkers holiday. The businesses have to absorb the cost of paying the employee extra.

That will never happen here.

His ideas about organizing transport isa quite correct.

And by necessity it would both Buses where possible and boats where needed.

Uncle Chewy makes more sense that most voices I've heard lately.

As to being quiet, well he is head of a minor party and has now real power past his tiny voting block, and no votes have happened, so he has sat back and listened to the infighting and sheer inanity of the dialog. When he chose to finally speak his points about actual hands on work are direct and make sense.

Sorry I don't buy the criticism.
