Russian tourist attacked and robbed at gunpoint in South Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A Russian Couple were subjected to a horrifying experience in the early hours of Tuesday as they returned to their Hotel after celebrating Halloween. Mr. and Mrs. Kazachenko were in Soi 6 off the Pratamnuk Road and were only meters away from their Hotel when they were confronted by a Thai Man and woman. The man, who was described as overweight produced a gun and threatened the pair, demanding they hand over all cash and valuables. Mrs. Kazanchenko decided to fight back and was punched in the face by the armed man. She fell to the ground and the man stole her handbag and snatched a gold necklace from around her neck before the two suspects fled the scene. Inside the bag were 17,000 Baht and personal items. Pattaya Police soon arrived on-scene and escorted the Russian couple to Banglamung Hospital where Mrs. Kazanchenko was treated for minor facial injuries.

Pratunmak Hill has always been ghetto..there has always been allot of personal and property crimes in that area no matter how much lipstick the property pimps try to put on this pig. There is lots of underbrush for people to hid in both before and after their crimes. If you want to be safe, don't rent or buy anywhere near there...and don't buy the BS about it being safe because of a certain residence in the area...the extra police/security don't give a hoot about you or your property!

Should not happen but sadly crime is everywhere not just Thailand. Learned many years ago if you are going out at night, especially if drinking, leave the valuables at home and dress down.............. you are much less likely to be targeted. If you want to walk around countries like Thailand or the Phillipines flashing gold jewelery expect to be targeted --- its a fact of life.
