4 Thai Staff Being Interviewed As Part Of 1 Year Visa Application

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am currently applying for a 1 year non-immigrant type B visa. I have all the documentation completed but they have said that they need to interview four of the staff that work for me. Has anyone heard of this happening before or is it standard practice? I have been in Thailand for a long time but I have never heard of this before. If you have any advice regarding this please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

That's weird and funny! don't you smell something fishy??

Since you appear to be posting from within Thailand you are applying for a 1 year extension of stay rather than a visa.

I've not heard of anyone actually interviewing staff but there are certainly instances of companies having to demonstrate that the required Thai staff do actually exist.

Which immigration office are you using?

Sorry - Yes it is an extension. It is the Hua Hin office.

I believe they want to make sure the people listed as staff are actually working for you and not just listed on paper to meet requirements.

Thanks for the reply, the interviews are tomorrow morning so will write on here what they were for and how they went.

You are seeing now what I think is going to become more commonplace . . . yet another hoop for us to jump through along with the small forests worth of paperwork that they ask for each time. Things are only going to get more and more difficult, not easier I think on this score.

I beleieve immigration have always had the right to to things like this, but in most cases they dont exercise this right and maybe in this case they feel they need to do it...so hardly another "hoop"

Its similar to the 90 day reports...its always been on the books officially, but for years they never really bothered enforcing it....and now over the last 5 years or so, they are enforcing it

Yes the interview was basically them checking that the staff actually work where they are meant to. A few basic questions about the job that they do and what my job is. It is the first time I have heard of this but I guess it is a way of checking that people do have staff when they say they do.

Will find out the outcome of the application on Monday or Tuesday as the paper work has to be sent up to Bangkok now.

Thanks for the help.

Out of curiosity, did the interviews take place in your office or did the 4 Thai staff have to take the morning off work and troop down to Immigration?
